BUY NOTHING NEW//has a good ring to it as a theme for 2026. There are already more than enough clothing in the world to clothe several generations and cheap polyester and poorly made clothing is not helping the environment or human society. Yes, there is an equity issue here in terms of some people not being able to afford to only buy ethical brands but this is not aimed at those people. This is aimed at the wannabe influencer buying frequent $200+ Shein hauls and only wearing items once and expexting op shops to just take them and be grateful. But in reality many of those cheaper clothing are poorly made and can't be sold again and end up going straight to landfill - another cost burden for the charities the op shops are fundraising for.
With loads of online resellers now, buying second hand clothing is now even more accessible than ever. You can do it on your phone on the couch or in bed, even while sitting on the toilet! 😂😆
Buying less new, buying quality and outfits that can be on regular rotation in your wardrobe is a grear idea for the environment and your wallet. And you can curate your own unique sense of style for yourself and your little one!
