Thank you to everyone who visited the VietCan Books booth at Omatsuri 2026. Despite the crazy heat and smoky skies, many of you came out to celebrate culture, community, and language with us. We truly appreciate the conversations, the smiles, and our books finding a new home.

One of my favourite parts of the weekend was hearing your language journey: parents wanting to pass on their heritage language, adults learning a new language, and families embracing bilingualism together. I also loved swapping tips on picking up a new language. Those conversations are exactly why VietCan Books exists.

A heartfelt thank you to the amazing Omatsuri organizers and volunteers for your countless hours of hard work. Your passion and dedication created another wonderful festival that brought our community together.

How many poses does it take to read a library book 😂
The local public library Calgary Public Library has been such an integral part of our reading journey. While our house is filled with Vietnamese books, our trilingual child also likes an abundance of English books.
Some days she loves reading with mama in Vietnamese. Occasionally she'll find a great French book from the school library. For English books, we're so lucky to have easy access to, for free. Because sometimes, all the time lately, all she wants to read is Dog Man.
