You don’t have to have it all figured out before hiring a designer! Honestly that’s kind of the point…. Maybe you know your home doesn’t feel quite right, but you’re not sure where to start. 3 THINGS I WISH EVERYONE KNEW BEFORE BUILDING A NEW HOME 🏠

1. Don’t choose your finishes one at a time.
Your flooring, cabinets, countertops, tile, paint and lighting all need to work together. Picking each item separately can leave you with a house full of beautiful finishes that don’t actually feel cohesive.

2. Lighting should be planned BEFORE you start finishing the house.
Where you place your lights can completely change how a room feels. I always want to think about function, ambiance and furniture placement—not just “where can we put a can light?”

3. Spend your money on the things that are hard to change later.
Layout. Cabinetry. Flooring. Tile. Doors. Lighting. Those are the decisions I want homeowners to get right BEFORE the house is finished. The pretty pillows and decor can come later. 😉

This is exactly where having a designer involved early can save you from making expensive decisions twice.

BUILDING OR REMODELING SOON? 👀

Before you start picking finishes, here are 3 things I wish every homeowner knew:

1. Do all my finishes need to work together?
YES! Flooring, cabinets, countertops, paint, lighting, etc. should all be selected with the overall design in mind.

2. Does pretty = practical?
Not always! Your home should look beautiful and work for the way your family actually lives.

3. Should I hire a designer before I start?
Absolutely. Having a plan before construction starts can save you time, stress & costly mistakes later.
