What are those white streaks on my chocolates!?
Bloomed chocolates are visually identifiable as chocolates with white streaks or patches. There are 2 types of bloom: fat bloom and sugar bloom. The main causes of blooming are variations in temperature and humidity during tempering and storage.
Although bloomed chocolates are totally safe to eat, their appearance is not nearly as appealing. Storing your chocolates properly will help to prevent blooming so that you can enjoy your chocolates longer.
Here are 3 tips you can use at home to help prevent your chocolates from blooming during storage:
1. Keep your chocolates away from moisture and humidity.
2. Store your chocolates in a cool, dark place away from direct light.
3. Store your chocolates between 12°C and 18°C.
