The new year is my favorite. I love fresh starts and clean slates.
This year I want to prioritize reading again and find a way to balance it with my writing schedule.
I don’t want to just “read more”. I want to be selective about what I’m choosing to read.
I’ve put together a few goals for the year that goes beyond the book count.
1. Discover New Authors. It is so fun to dig deep into Amazon and find new authors fresh on the scene or maybe some who have been around but don’t have a large readership.
2. Read through my “physical” TBR. My kindle has over 480 books currently downloaded and I have another 2k on an Amazon list. I want to either read it or delete it.
3. Read 2-3 books a week. This will be difficult for me and will also depend on my productivity during the week. I am planning for one full rest day a week which I intend to spend resting and reading.
4. Spotlight more authors and books on social media. I want to amp up my “booksta” side on this account and share more of the amazing authors I’m discovering. One of my store goals is to start carrying more indie authors in our shop. This will all tie in together 🥰
5. Read more diverse authors. I’ve noticed I don’t pay attention to who writes the books I’m reading. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing to choose books solely based on vibes but it also isn’t good. It’s important to also read with attention and pay attention to the source of where the books are coming from. I want one of every three books I read a week to be from a diverse author.
Have you set any reading goals for 2025? I would love to hear them in the comments.
