ScoLoHoFo
Oh!
Blue Note - B0033844-01

2023 Tone Poet Audiophile Reissue (Stereo)

The Ultimate Modern Jazz Supergroup. 🎸🎷

This is the Tone Poet Audiophile pressing of ScoLoHoFo's Oh!. The name stands for the four legends who make up the band: John Scofield (Guitar), Joe Lovano (Sax), Dave Holland (Bass), and Al Foster (Drums). Originally recorded in 2002, this album is a masterclass in chemistry, with each member contributing compositions that push the boundaries of post-bop and fusion. This specific pressing was mastered from the original analog tapes by Kevin Gray, giving it a depth and clarity that digital versions simply can't match. Tracks like "New Amsterdam" sound absolutely massive on this vinyl.

ScoLoHoFo is a rare instance of a "supergroup" that actually lived up to the hype. All four members are bandleaders in their own right, and they have a shared history playing with Miles Davis and Joe Henderson. Hearing them trade ideas on this record is like listening to four old friends having the most interesting conversation of their lives.
