Where was this blue jacket 81 years ago today?
It was with a sailor aboard the BB-63 the USS Missouri!
On August 17, 1945 — exactly 81 years ago today — USS Missouri was still at sea in Japanese waters with Admiral William F. Halsey’s Third Fleet, 300 miles southeast of Honshu, Japan.
Stay tuned for more USS Missouri items and information about the sailor who wore this jacket, as we get closer to September 2nd.
This jacket and other items related to it will be available for purchase.

Here’s a recent addition to the collection.

Original WWII German Luftwaffe LKp W101 Winter Flying Helmet

Offered is an original Second World War German Luftwaffe LKp W101 leather flying helmet manufactured by Siemens Luftfahrtgerätewerk Hakenfelde GmbH. This is an authentic wartime communications helmet retaining an exceptional amount of its original equipment.

The LKp W101 was introduced in 1938 as the standard winter radio flying helmet and remained in Luftwaffe service throughout World War II for aircrew requiring aircraft intercom and radio communications. These helmets were used by fighter, bomber, heavy fighter, transport, and night fighter crews.
