We will challenge ourselves with learning the timing and foundational steps of Bachata in the first session and then put those steps together with our partner in the second session.

I heard the most wonderful news today. Khal's lymphoma (the lump at his neck) is now half the size it was. When he was admitted, the lump measured 20cm x 3 cm, today it is 10cm x 3cm. I think both of Khal and I were smiling ear to ear as he shared this news with me over our phone call today...click for more

In late August of 2023, I learned that Khal was in for the fight of his life. After many tests and weeks of uncertainty, it was determined that Khal has T-lymphoblastic lymphoma/Leukemia!

I first met Khal (Khaldon) when he joined the KLSS dance family in June 2023. The first time we met, he had this fantastic, infectious smile that radiated his warmth and glowing positivity.

I have been fortunate to share a few conversations with Khal, learning that he is a refugee from war-torn Syria and has been living in Malaysia for a few years now. He joined KLSS to expand his circle of friends (to find a community) and to learn how to dance. I was very impressed with Khal’s positive attitude, enthusiasm for life, and outlook at 24 years of age, especially considering the circumstances of his status and the tragedy in his home country.

Khal was one of the very first to unselfishly jump in to assist new class members in checking in and organizing their name tags and wristbands, generally helping us with the administrative process of welcoming people to the KLSS Dance community, a true ambassador!

During the class, he was always the first to share Rule #1, “Smile.” Looking out at the class, I always spot his big smile and long hair cinches. He was always friendly and upbeat.

After reaching out to him a few times (we) have convinced Khal this is not just his battle alone, that he has family with us and the KLSS Dance Family and Community, and that we will help him however we can to support his courage and bravery in facing his diagnosis and treatment.

Unable to work and quickly depleting his financial resources with the cost of Chemotherapy treatment (4k RM per month), Khal needs financial and spiritual assistance.

A few of us have financially aided him, but with his schedule of continuing treatments, it will not be enough.

We need to raise approximately RM 35k for Khal to continue chemotherapy treatments for his T-lymphoblastic lymphoma/Leukemia.
In an effort, Khal has a fighting chance with this treatment and beating this challenge facing him.

In the next few weeks, we (KLSS) will be hosting several ways you can help us help him, from special classes and events to donations directly to his Fundraising page.

The goal is only *RM 35k. With your support, we can reach that!

I know that Khal has the ability and positivity that it will take. Like all of us, sometimes we need a helping hand, which is the value of a family.

Khaldon, or Khal as he's affectionately known, exudes warmth with his cherubic smile and twinkling eyes.

At age 17, he left his war-torn home in Syria for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, armed only with hope. Now, at 25, Khal has built a life from the ground up, a testament to hard work, ambition, and unwavering determination. He became a certified swimming coach and started his business teaching children how to swim.

However, the trajectory of Khal's life took a sudden, devastating turn.

In June of 2023, What began as a minor neck swelling quickly escalated into a life-threatening diagnosis of T-lymphoblastic lymphoma/Leukemia.

The bulge in his neck grew, making even breathing a challenge. Biopsies and initial treatments rapidly depleted his hard-earned savings.

We aim to raise RM 35,000 to ensure Khal's path to treatment and recovery for the next six months.

Khal faces a six-month treatment plan, including cycles of chemotherapy and the financial burden accompanying it. Despite initial hesitations, Khal's small circle of friends, including Jojo, Meyer, and myself, Nina, rallied around him to launch this initiative.

We humbly ask you to join us in supporting Khal through this trying time with your generous donation to his treatment and living expenses during this most challenging time for him.

Khal’s expenses are as follows:
**Medical Treatment:**
A single treatment cycle, including chemotherapy, CT scans, and a 10-day hospital stay, costs RM 1,400.
With three cycles per month, the total monthly medical expense is approximately RM 4,200.

**Living Costs:** Monthly living
Khal's monthly living expenses and transportation to and from the treatments are approximately RM 2,000.
