Want to know the secret to doing hard things?
GET DESPERATE AND GET GOING.
If you really want it, like want it so bad it hurts, you're going to work towards it. And if you start taking steps now, no matter how small, eventually you'll get there.
For years, I've wanted to get in better shape. Not necessarily to look better, but to FEEL better. And for years, I've failed to make any progress towards health at all. You know why? I wasn't desperate yet. I wanted it, sure. But I wasn't hyper-focused on it. I didn't truly believe the effort it was going to take would be worth the results. But eventually, I got desperate. I got so sick of always being tired. Of being young but having no energy at all. Of the numbers on the scale always going up and my confidence always going down.
So I got going! I started a work out plan. I really have never consistently worked out in my whole adult life and I was a true beginner. I HATE being a beginner! But I knew I had to start at level 0 to get to level 10. That first work out was awful. I'm sure it would have been quite a sight to watch 😂 And I was so, so sore. One day, I literally could barely lift my fork to my mouth! Unintentional diet, I guess? 🤣 It was a mess but I was damn proud because I GOT GOING. And now seven weeks later, I'm still going and it's getting easier and more life-giving every time.
Friends, there are no short cuts in life. And if someone's selling you a short cut, it's probably A) not going to give you the LASTING results you actually want (because your heart and mind aren't going to change in the process as well), or B) a lie and not going to give you ANY results at all. If we want to accomplish big things, we have to do the hard work.
What's a hard thing you're proud to have accomplished? I'd love to hear!
