Looks like I solved the water level problem on the mini skimmer.

The water outlet has a k**b that turns a piece of plastic to control the water flow and water level inside the skimmer. Well, that doesn't quite do the trick.

The outlet is a slotted hole. It has about 4 or 5 slots that the water is allowed to pass through.

I just siliconed over the top 3 slits to force the water level inside the skimmer to drop down a bit.

Got a much better stream out of the water outlet, and have a bubble column in the cone of the skimmer. So much so, I actually had to dial back the k**b I added to the new air inlet hose.

However, I took it just a step further. I had a small airline adjustable control, so I added that to the end of the airline. Was hoping that would help with the lower water level. It definitely quiets down the skimmer, and it definitely raised the water level in the skimmer, but I'm not sure it will be enough to get any efficiency out of the unit in a 6" tall tank.

Giving the unit some time to break in, and we will see. I may need to go to an 8" tall frag tank on the next setup.

Ok, trying a couple new products out in the frag tank today. Decided to give my first "nano skimmer" a try. Never been impressed with so-called "nano skimmers", but this one got really good reviews, so figured I'd give it a try. Trying the Aquatic Life Mini Nano Skimmer 115. So far, it looks like it does bubble well, but I don't think I have enough height to the water level to get it working properly. Off to see about "modding" it to make that happen.

Also giving the new Chemi-Pure Blue a true. I've been using Chemi Pure elite in the 30 gallon and have had fantastic results with it in a small reactor in the sump. Trying to find a reactor that wasn't ginormous compared to my frag tank size was impossible. So, I picked up a Fluval U1 mini internal filter. Pulled the filter pad out and put the mesh bag inside the filter basket. Hopefully this works out.

Calling all artists! I need a logo for Reefs Plus!

Looking for something to represent my business concept of:

"From Reefs To Reptiles And More".

I need something that will translate easily across multiple platforms (ie. signs, business cards, shirts, banners, window clings, etc)

Would like it to be representative of marine fish/coral as well as snakes and lizards.

Nothing too complex, but definitely original.

Reefs Plus is introducing it's new "Life Stages" Series. First in this series is the "Terra-Box"!

They are available in a multitude of different sizes, and are great for breeders to step up their babies to different sizes as they grow!

Limited supply currently in stock in 3 sizes: mini, small and medium!

The small and medium sizes ship flat and must be assembled. They are NOT water proof. However, they are great for breeders because they can be disassembled if not in use and stored away.

The mini ships pre-assembled, and is sealed at the seams, but I am not 100% willing to call them "water proof", at least not completely.

We hope to have alot of different sizes available soon, for now, these 3 sizes are available in a very limited test quantity at great introductory prices!

We currently are using several of the small and medium for babies and very young juveniles, and they seem to be working great! We have a local Mantis breeder that is using the minis and loves them!

PM us with any questions, or to place an order! We have a very limited supply for this test run, so don't wait, we anticipate they won't last long!
