Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arranging dating back to the 6th Century when monks would offer flowers to Budda in their temples. After WW II these designs became popular in America. In our class on Saturday we covered the history, the elements of design and mindfulness of making these minimalist arrangements.

The creativity of the participants was stunning! As always I learn so my from my students. Sadly several people got away before we did our group photo, but below are some of the designs. I hope to do many more of these classes in the future.

We had so much fun at the Valentine framed pressed flower workshop on Saturday. The projects were so creative, with one student using a photo of the family dog. So cute! I'm sorry I did not get pictures of everyone, but time got away from me. =(

My next class will be Saturday, March 7th from 11:00 - 12:30 pm on the Japanese art of "Ikebana" flower arranging. This will be an amazing class! See you then!

Flowers are back! Grab a bouquet to brighten your home, workspace or for a gift. I took January off on the workshops to recharge, but yippee Valentine's Day is almost here!

We will be doing the popular framed pressed flower workshop. There will be lots of red pressed flowers and the multicolor varieties for those who want to do something else. We had a fun workshop today with Santa stopping by to take a photo. All the Paperwhites and Amaryllis bulbs are planted and ready to grow! Such a lovely group of ladies ready to laugh and have fun. They brightened my day!

Double King Amaryllis is a deep red with 4 to 5 blooms per bulb. They do not disappoint! This picture is at my mom's place at Hiram Shaddox nursing home and it just lights up the room.

I have been growing these bulbs since October and they are in various stages of maturity for your holiday pleasure. They will be at the front with my Friday flower arrangements. I also have a red and white Amaryllis that is gorgeous!

Don't forget to go upstairs and visit Bloomin' Gardens and the other outstanding shops for all your Christmas gifts. Saturday, December 6th will be the bulb forcing workshop from 11:00 to 12:00. The class is $30 due to the price of the BIG bulbs and containers. We will be forcing Paperwhites and Amaryllis. Hope to see you soon!
