Fluttering into our slowly growing collection of hand carved & painted moths - The Black Arches, Garden Tiger, Cream Spot Tiger & Six Spot Burnet moths, can all be found within the British Isles.

This summer in our own Highland garden, we've let the grasses & wild flowers flourish & it's been a season of moths. We've spotted hovering Ghost moths, Banded Beauties, Dark Arches, Elephant Hawk moths, Emporor moth catapillars, Shaded broad-bars & large Yellow Underwings.

Last week we were asked to recreate a moth from a wonderful customers cherished childhood memory. She remembers watching 6 spot Burnet moths flying around the sand dunes in Aberdeenshire & wishing they'd land on her hand. Now she has one she can hold in her hand, we're so happy to have been able honour that memory.

Recreating the subtle shimmer & metallic blue hues found in one of Scotlands most striking wild creatures was challenging, but so much fun. We're very happy to take on bespoke commissions & expand our growing collection of hand carved, hand illustrated moths.

Hidden inside this fallen Ash is a rare and beautiful phenomenon known as 'Olive Ash', which occurs naturally in older Ash trees. Dark inner heartwood weaves through the bright outer sapwood layer.
