There are several main reasons for the burning of control transformers:

1. Overload
When the load on the transformer exceeds its rated capacity, the transformer temperature will rise, which will then trigger the overload protector to operate. If the protector fails or the operation is wrong, the transformer will burn out.

2. Short circuit
Short circuit refers to a direct low-impedance path generated by the winding or conductor in the transformer, causing the transformer to generate excessive current. The magnitude of the short-circuit current depends on the short-circuit position and circuit parameters. If the short-circuit protection device of the transformer fails or the operation is wrong, the transformer will also burn out. Therefore, when installing and maintaining the transformer, it is important to pay attention to the integrity and correctness of the short-circuit protection.

3. Insulation aging
Insulation aging refers to the long-term influence of the insulation material in the transformer on the harsh environment such as high temperature and high humidity, which causes the insulation material to break or crack, resulting in a decrease in insulation performance, resulting in leakage and breakdown. If the insulation material in the transformer is severely aged, electrical failures are likely to occur, and even cause the transformer to burn out.

The future linear reactor consists of a straight conductor placed within a closed magnetic circuit, utilizing the self-induced electromotive force generated by the straight conductor in the magnetic circuit to function as a series reactor. This reactor features minimal electromagnetic radiation, low loss, reduced overall construction costs, and high reliability.
The electromagnetic radiation measured one meter away from this reactor is less than 1/10,000 of that of a traditional air-core series reactor, while its power loss is less than 1/100 of that of conventional air-core reactors.
Since this reactor primarily uses air as its insulator and contains no flammable insulating materials, it eliminates the risks of combustion and explosion.
Due to its extremely low electromagnetic radiation, this reactor causes no electromagnetic interference to surrounding equipment and poses no risks such as fire or explosion. Therefore, it can be installed indoors in substations or converter stations. Additionally, its compact size requires significantly less space, and its construction costs are much lower than those of traditional reactors, making it the preferred choice for the next generation of series reactors.
