The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for HEAVY RAINFALL for parts of Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges and Mid North districts.

Issued at 1:59 pm CST on Sunday 9 August 2026

Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms possible.

Weather Situation: A line of showers and thunderstorms may result in areas of heavy rainfall extending from Clare to northern Adelaide suburbs during the afternoon.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Clare and Gawler.

Safety advice
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS for Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula and parts of West Coast, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts.

Issued at 10:22 am CST on Sunday 9 August 2026

Damaging winds developing about the Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and Flinders Ranges today.

Weather Situation: A cold front extending from a low-pressure system in the Bight is moving across the state today, bringing a gusty west to southwesterly change. A secondary trough will approach western Eyre Peninsula this afternoon, strengthening winds for a period.

DAMAGING WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts of around 90 km/h are possible about the western and southern Eyre Peninsula from late Sunday morning. DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are also possible further inland from Sunday afternoon, particularly over the eastern Eyre Peninsula and northern Yorke Peninsula. Conditions are forecast to ease below warning thresholds by late Sunday evening.

DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are likely about the Flinders Ranges from late Sunday afternoon, easing below warning thresholds by around sunrise on Monday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Port Lincoln, Ceduna, Wudinna, Cleve, Hawker, Elliston, Jamestown, Kadina, Burra, Arkaroola, Peterborough and Streaky Bay.

Safety advice
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

And that’s since we expanded eligibility for the Seniors Card program.

Since 1 July, any South Australian aged 60 or over can apply for the Seniors Card, regardless of how many hours they work.

That means more people can save on essentials like petrol, groceries and public transport.

Please be advised road closures will be in place on Sunday 2 August, from 6 am to 12 pm, for Fitzy's 5 Fun Run:

⛔ War Memorial Drive between Frome and Bundeys Roads
⛔ Bundeys Road (Westbound Lane only) between Hackney Road and MacKinnon Parade

Tea Tree Plaza Interchange will be closed from 6pm on Friday 31 July, reopening at 4am on Wednesday 5 August, to allow resurfacing work to be carried out.

Services will still be running, however the Interchange zones will be replaced by temporary stops on Smart Road during the weekend closure. 🚏

The TTP Park ‘n’ Ride facilities will remain open. ✅

♿ For accessibility, the first row of spaces of Tea Tree Plaza shopping centre's rooftop carpark facing Smart Road are reserved during regular carpark hours for cars displaying a valid disability parking permits.
