My businesses are still relatively smallâor maybe I should simply call them side hustles, because I know Iâve only scratched the surface of entrepreneurship.
Despite what social media often portrays, many people still dream of starting a business so they can be their own boss. And yes, being your own boss is a real advantage, especially when youâre building something from the ground up. But what many donât realize is that youâre also your own employeeâand much more.
You wear countless hats. One moment youâre the cook, maker, or service provider. The next, youâre the social media manager, marketer, auditor, customer service representative, critic, strategist, and CEO. The work doesnât stop when business hours end. Itâs a 24/7 commitment.
Your mind is constantly runningâdecision after decision, problem after problem, solution after solution. It can be exhausting. At the same time, it can be incredibly fulfilling when you genuinely love what you do. But if youâre not careful, it can also slowly drain and burn you out.
Thatâs why entrepreneurship isnât for everyone. If youâre not fully committedâif youâre not willing to embrace both the rewards and the sacrificesâdonât start just because it looks appealing online. Make sure youâre truly all in.
