Why I test… so you don’t have to 🕯️✨
The testing phase of candle making can be full of failures, sometimes several times before you finally create the one people love and come back for again and again.
The process can be tiring, but the reward at the end is worth every step.
When you finally make that candle with the perfect burn, perfect scent throw, and beautiful glow, you do a little victory dance. 💃✨
If not… back to the board, tweak, and start again.
As I mentioned previously, failure doesn’t mean the end, it just means there’s a tweak or adjustment needed. 🤍
Here’s what I look for during testing to make sure every candle is perfect:
1️⃣ Burn Quality – Even burn, no tunneling, no excessive smoke.
2️⃣ Scent Throw – Cold throw (unlit) and hot throw (lit) are consistent, pleasant, and noticeable.
3️⃣ Wax Pool – Wax melts evenly, creating a full melt pool with no high edges or mushrooming.
4️⃣ Wick Performance – Wick stays upright, maintains a steady flame, and doesn’t flicker or produce soot.
5️⃣ Glass or Container Safety – Container stays heat-safe and doesn’t overheat.
6️⃣ Longevity – Candle burns for the expected time without issues.
The goal: a candle that burns beautifully, smells amazing, and brings calm. 🤍
