Time-lapse video of part of the Summer Breeze quilt assembly. The pieces are backed with fusible web and put in place using the clear template as a guide. Once the pieces are in place, they are ironed to make a permanent bond. Then the entire head/mane were adhered to the backing fabric.

Carmen made this fabric collage wall hanging a while back and we never managed to get it posted! The pattern is “Summer Breeze” by Toni Whitney Design. This was made as a gift for a coworker who was retiring. Teal was her favorite color and definitely gives this small quilt a whimsical feel!

So, I made a silly mistake on this one. I spent HOURS making this HUGE scrap block in the middle, but I needed to add border to make it a little bigger. Well, when cutting those pretty blue strips, I forgot to add half and inch for the seam allowance 😫.

I HATE ripping out seems. Who’s with me? So, I decided I’d rather add more fabric than waste those pretty blue strip. Of course, then I had to do a mitered border which I tend to avoid out of laziness 🤣.

BUT, oh man, it looks so good! Sometimes our mistakes are happy accidents, just like this one. It wouldn’t have looked nearly as nice the way I originally planned.

This quilt was so fun to make and so colorful! I saw a quilt made with this pattern somewhere and figured out how to make it on my own. Who needs a pattern?! 🤣 But, being able to do that helped me realize I’m a quilter! I can do things!

Have you tried paper piecing?! I love the crispness achieved with this method. It’s a unique challenge, but SO FUN to learn! If you haven’t tried it, give it a shot!

My absolute favorite memory quilt I’ve made. This took dozens of hours, measuring to the 32nds of an inch, to mosaic together. It was a mix of t-shirts and uniform material from a retired military police officer.

All hands and double chins on deck! Sometimes you need more than 2 hands to manage a quilt through a tabletop machine. This is one of my go-to ways 🤣.
