It's day 25 of Second Hand September!

Do you ever have old items that may be broken or missing parts that you are about to throw away to the tip and to landfill? Why not upcycle it with a twist and give something a new use! We have a metal half mannequin that is missing the stand. This easily could go to landfill or to metal scrap but we prefer her sporting a new look. Things like this can be used for a multitude of things. We've dressed her in some of our scarves to easy display and use. We've also given her a garden makeover with some faux flowers and plants, although planting her in the garden somewhere would make a great feature for your real plants to grow and climb over.

It's day 24 of Second Hand September!

How cool are these tote bags? One of our amazing supporters have made several of these bags for us. They have been made from scrap material pieces. What an amazing way to turn something old and possibly onto it's way to landfill into something new! Thank you so much for all of the support.

It's day 16 of Second Hand September! This one is for all the gamers. You can pick up some amazing console games from charity shops or online platforms. We have these going up for sale on our eBay shop today. The prices of games are getting more and more expensive these days which means not everyone can always afford games, especially with physical media.

Shopping second hand stops these items ending up in landfill and gives the games a new lease of life, especially with discs or cartridges. A great way to get games you love for a cheaper price.

It's day 15 of Second Hand September!

Did you know...

Buying just 1 pair of jeans and a t-shirt second hand instead of new saves the water equivalent of 20,000 standard bottles of water.

If each UK adult donated wearable clothes that they hadn’t worn in the last year it could prevent 4.9 billion kilos of carbon from entering the earths atmosphere. This is equivalent to a plane flying around the world 6,600 times.

1 in 3 adults have admitted to throwing away brand new never worn items of clothing straight to the landfill in the last year.

If every UK adult chose to make half of their next wardrobe second hand we could prevent 12.5 billion kilos of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere. That’s equivalent of a plane flying 17,000 times around the world.

It's day 14 of Second Hand September which means we are half way through! How has everyone been changing their shopping habits? Have you found yourself shopping second hand more? Or have you always been a lover of second hand shopping?

Part of our effort to keep items out of landfill and to be loved again, we bundle up some of our clothing items and sell them over on our Vinted page. These are bundled in sizes and great as a wardrobe re-fresh for yourself, gifts for friends and family, or perfect for those of you who resell items online or at a car boot sale. This helps keep items out of landfill or shipped abroad as seen in some of our other posts from this month.
