Relay coding…

I decided to try something a little different with my Grade 1’s this week - Inspired by a super cool video that I saw on the YouTube channel…
The class was split into 5 teams
I printed out my pirate unplugged coding quests & stuck them onto the board,
Each team had 5 different coding quests to complete
They had to work as a team - relay style - to complete the quest, each team member could only draw one arrow at a time until they had completed the quest, they were then allowed to move on to their next quest until they had completed all 5.
This lesson was such great fun & full of energy, it was also an awesome way to teach students about the power of working together in solving problems & checking/debugging each other’s work.

The first lesson was a little wild but after repeating it with a few classes, I developed a system that seemed to work well. 😂

FINAL CLEARANCE SALE!!!
Little Book Nook’s chapter has sadly come to an end. Somewhere between life, ever increasing website, advertising & courier fees aaaand going back to teaching full time this year, I have really let my little business fall apart.
I started Little Book Nook in July 2020 as a side hustle to share my love of children’s books - their ability to ignite your imagination, spark your curiosity & take you on the most wonderful adventures, the lessons that they teach & of course the beautiful moments of cuddling up with your kiddos at bedtime to enjoy a story together.
& whilst I still strongly believe in the “why” behind starting my business, I largely underestimated everything that is involved in owning a small business & being able to survive on the non-existent profits of said business. 😂
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each & every one of my followers for following, liking, commenting & supporting my business.
I hope to keep this page going with some book suggestions & inspiration, just without the pressure of making the sales.

Coupons for Christmas was written & illustrated by myself (Kelli Murton).
I am a preschool teacher, wife, mom & an aspiring author. This is my very first attempt at writing my own book & the illustrations are a little rough around the edges, but I hope you will appreciate the amateur quirks & inspiring message.

The story aims to inspire a tradition of gifting experiences rather than piles of (often unwanted or useless) stuff.
It hopes to remind readers (young & old) about the magic of spending time enjoying the simple things with loved ones & to value making memories that will last a lifetime rather than things that end up collecting dust on our shelves.
