Fir cones forming, flowers falling, holly berries ripening, snow berries appearing, and leaves turning from green to brown. This is autumn here in my corner of the world. And that's the first times I've seen that particular cone. I've identified it as a Douglas fir. Am I correct? Coming from South Africa 🇿🇦 I'm not too familiar with the different conifer trees and cones.

Editing chapter 12 and 13 today. Lunch outside in the deck chair with Hattera's girl by Alice J. Wisler. She's such a great writer. A walk around the block in this beautiful balmy weather then a little bit of tree climbing with my grandson. And yes, we took pictures of each other in the tree.

The colourful garden of one of our neighbours, a lady who is over 80 and who has worked very hard in her garden, even during our summer hosepipe ban. She's filled watering cans, put them in the wheelbarrow and pushed it to the front of her property over and over again, until she discovered that, at her age, she allowed to continue to use a hosepipe. My two pics do not show the full beauty, especially of the dahlias and the alstromaria. Vivid yellows, reds a d orange. Well done to you. I told her how much I appreciate her work as I gaze at them every time I pass.

The colours of autumn on my walk around the neighbourhood. The blushing pink and the yellow of the ripening crab apples, the reds and yellows of the berries, the sunflowers and the pretty pinks of the lace-cap hydrangeas, the greens and creams of the variegated leaves, new reddish stalks and fading roses. I'm thankful for them all. And for neighbours to chat to on the way. What colours are you seeing? Autumn colours or newspring growth?

Just returned from my daily walk around the block in a JERSEY! Been walking almost every day for the past 2 months, mostly wearing shorts and summer tops. For a few days I've worn trousers and now .... a cardigan too! Autumn is here.

Do you like 'new builds' as they call them here in the UK? I like houses that are old on the outside but completely renovated on the inside. A bit of both. This is Maples at Great Notley in Essex.

A glorious high-summer day today. Surprising but wonderful. I spent the morning editing my second novel and most of the afternoon reading. I had to get outside and enjoy it while we have it as we've already had some rain and plenty of wind and wete expecting that radical temperature drop any day now. Ilfracombe. My Aunt's favourite beach. She lived most of her life in London, England, while my father spent his life in Durban, South Africa. And that's where I was born, and where I spent most of my life. I'm proud to be South African but also very happy to be living permanently in the UK.
