What a freekick this weekend. FC Saiyans returns after two draws over the weekend. 1-1 vs Mabatshe with Khyler Booysen scoring a penalty after being fouled in the box. Lumko Bobelo was used as a striker for the first time and proved a handfull for defenders to handle. Midfield trio Luyanda, Aphiwe and Ox seems to get the chemistry juices going with Captain Luyanda being named man of the match. At the back cebtrebacks Bhablo and Mavesta looked solid as always and Fullbacks Michael and Siphiwe showed a lot of promise moving forward with the ball. Second half striker Nadiem Perterson and Oyinthando Grootboom came off the bench and offered the team a lot of options in attack as the defence of Mabatche struggled to handle the attacking prowess. Revean Solomons box to box midfielder came off the bench and scored a goal that was disallowed. Mabatche caught saiyans sleeping with a quick corner at the end of the game for the game to end 1-1.

Second game on Sunday FC Saiyans faced blood brothers with shotstopper Joe not able to play. Experienced rightback Sylvahno Berry agreed to put on the gloves and did pretty well. First half Igzaan scored a penalty, looking sharp before being replaced after an injury halftime. Then Bloodbrothers scored after a defensive error to make it 1-1. FC Saiyans showed domination keeping the ball and was eventually rewarded with a freekick which Siphiwe took in Roberto Carlos style from almost at the halfway line. Pure power by the man with the big calves. Second half Blood Brothers came back after another defensive error and made it 2-2. Centre midfielder Olona Ox was named man of the match, returning to his best form and showing His quality. Was closely contested with Bhablo Matwa and Micheal Dumbe but Oxed edged it with his craftmanship with the ball, the little magician. Next week FC Saiyans faced log leaders FC Benfica which promises to be a thriller.

⚽ FC Super Saiyans – Easter Weekend Tournament Recap

FC Super Saiyans kicked off their Easter Weekend Tournament campaign with a tough test against Seabirds, a side competing two divisions above in the regional league.

The boys showed incredible resilience, keeping Seabirds out for 80 minutes with a disciplined and organized performance. Unfortunately, three late goals in the final 10 minutes saw the game slip away, but there were plenty of positives to take.

Standout performances:

Siphiwe (LB) – solid defensively and contributed going forward
Bukho-Benkosi “Messi” (LW) – unstoppable at times, consistently beating his fullback
Berry (RB) – excellent on the right-hand side
Bhablo & Enwer (CBs) – strong and composed at the back
Midfield unit of Lu, Aphiwe, Dillon & Vean – kept their shape and controlled phases well

The second match against Blood Brothers was full of action 🔥

⚽ 5’ – A spectacular overhead kick by Igzaan (assist: Siphiwe) gave Saiyans the lead
⚖️ Blood Brothers equalized from the penalty spot after a controversial decision
⚽ Saiyans responded with a header from Rhenton (assist: Igzaan)
🚀 Substitute Lumko made an instant impact with a screamer from outside the box

Blood Brothers pulled one back from a goal where the linesman had his flag raised, but play continued. A late penalty saw them equalize, ending the match 3-3.

The final group stage match ended in a 2-0 defeat to Try Again, bringing the tournament to a close for FC Super Saiyans.

Michael and Khyler showed true fighting spirit in the match against Try Again. From the first whistle to the last, both players gave everything for the badge, refusing to back down in tough moments. Michael battled tirelessly at rightback defending like a beast., while Khyler’s energy and determination kept the pressure on the opposition throughout. Their commitment and resilience were clear for everyone to see — a reflection of the heart and character of FC Super Saiyans.

💬 Despite the results, the team showed character, quality, and fighting spirit throughout the tournament.

Now it’s back to the drawing board as we shift focus to the domestic league, where we face Vangeli this Saturday.
