What a freekick this weekend. FC Saiyans returns after two draws over the weekend. 1-1 vs Mabatshe with Khyler Booysen scoring a penalty after being fouled in the box. Lumko Bobelo was used as a striker for the first time and proved a handfull for defenders to handle. Midfield trio Luyanda, Aphiwe and Ox seems to get the chemistry juices going with Captain Luyanda being named man of the match. At the back cebtrebacks Bhablo and Mavesta looked solid as always and Fullbacks Michael and Siphiwe showed a lot of promise moving forward with the ball. Second half striker Nadiem Perterson and Oyinthando Grootboom came off the bench and offered the team a lot of options in attack as the defence of Mabatche struggled to handle the attacking prowess. Revean Solomons box to box midfielder came off the bench and scored a goal that was disallowed. Mabatche caught saiyans sleeping with a quick corner at the end of the game for the game to end 1-1.
Second game on Sunday FC Saiyans faced blood brothers with shotstopper Joe not able to play. Experienced rightback Sylvahno Berry agreed to put on the gloves and did pretty well. First half Igzaan scored a penalty, looking sharp before being replaced after an injury halftime. Then Bloodbrothers scored after a defensive error to make it 1-1. FC Saiyans showed domination keeping the ball and was eventually rewarded with a freekick which Siphiwe took in Roberto Carlos style from almost at the halfway line. Pure power by the man with the big calves. Second half Blood Brothers came back after another defensive error and made it 2-2. Centre midfielder Olona Ox was named man of the match, returning to his best form and showing His quality. Was closely contested with Bhablo Matwa and Micheal Dumbe but Oxed edged it with his craftmanship with the ball, the little magician. Next week FC Saiyans faced log leaders FC Benfica which promises to be a thriller.
