Reliable chemical filtration is an important part of maintaining clear, healthy reef water—especially in systems with a high livestock load or a mixture of corals.
Our reef-safe activated carbon helps remove dissolved organic waste, discolouration, toxins, medications and unwanted impurities from aquarium water.
Available in two sizes:
▪️ 500 ml — R170
▪️ 1,000 ml — R290
How to use The Coral Bar Premium Activated Carbon:
1️⃣ Rinse the carbon thoroughly with RO water.
2️⃣ Place it in a high-flow area or media reactor for the best results.
3️⃣ Dose 100–150 ml per 100 litres of aquarium water.
4️⃣ Replace every 3–4 weeks, or sooner when required.
Calculate the dosage according to your aquarium’s total system water volume—not only the display-tank.
When should you run activated carbon?
Activated carbon can be used continuously for routine water polishing, but it becomes particularly valuable:
▪️ When aquarium water develops a yellow tint or unwanted odour
▪️ In mixed reefs where corals release dissolved organic compounds
▪️ After a medication treatment has been completed
▪️ When you want to improve overall water clarity
Important: carbon can remove medication from the water, so only use it after treatment unless the medication instructions state otherwise.
For best results, place it in a high-flow area or run it inside a media reactor.
