Did you know the Pilanesberg Activities and Journal (and the Afr version) is available at the Pilanesberg Centre curio shop?
The shop has a section specifically for the cause of the Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust and when you purchase anything in their section, the proceeds go back into the parks upkeep and development.
They are involved in many projects which includes rhino protection, community development, various research projects and technical projects that improve your stay at Pilanesberg.

'n Lekker groot vyf verrassing tussen al die kleiner goedjies!

I did a bit of a journal style fact sheet on the massive vulture poisoning that happened in the Kruger National Park on the 6th of May.

If you haven't read about it yet, you can have a look on the EWT's page

116 vultures were found dead on the scene of an elephant carcass, laced with a highly toxic pesticide. If you look at the totals of each of these vultures in South Africa, you will realize how staggering these numbers are!

84 vultures were rescued alive. I want to applaud everyone involved for your amazing work.

Why are vultures important?
-They maintain ecological balance.
-Prevent the spread of disease
-culturally significant
-important for tourism

All of this together means they are of economic benefit to South Africa.

What can you do to help?

- Spread awareness!
- Support conservation organisations, I will link a couple below
- report vulture sightings
- report poisoning or suspicious behaviour
