Brugge, in one breath: picturesque, dreamy, romantic.

Brugge is for the romantic. Whether you have romance, want romance or have lost it, this city hands it back to you in a box of chocolate, wrapped in flowers.

If your time here is short, wander Minnewater Park and cross Lovers' Bridge, cruise down Groenerei canal and take in Grote Markt. Consider climbing the Belfry for the view. Save the evening for a slow walk through the lit up streets, and don't skip the food scene.

Brugge gave me a full energy reset. I slowed right down and reflected on what actually matters: the love you give and the love you receive.

The Curator's Guide:

Brugge is built for the romantic. Whether you have romance, want romance or have lost it, this is the place to rekindle it. Swipe through for the non-negotiables in this fairytale of a city.

1. Minnewater Park: Do not miss the Lake of Love and Lovers' Bridge. Take a slow stroll here with your beloved and relish in what brought you together.
2. Grote Markt: The city's main square, lined with historical buildings now serving as shops, banks, museums and restaurants. Market day falls on a Wednesday.
3. Belfry of Bruges: This medieval bell tower sits right on Grote Markt. Steeped in history and well worth the steep climb for the views alone.
4. Steenstraat: A vibrant shopping street layered with great stores, restaurants and deep history. Perfect for an afternoon of wandering.
5. XPO Salvador Dali: This exhibition houses works and narratives from the iconic surrealist. It leaves you with a far better grasp of the man behind the art.

Some cities show you around. Brugge asks you to fall in love.

Legend says a young woman named Minna ran into the forest to reach the warrior she loved, only to die from exhaustion in his arms. The lake, the park and the bridge that carry her name still hold that ache today, charging the whole city with a sweet melancholy that feels less like sadness and more like devotion.

Wander the waterways in full bloom, cross Lovers' Bridge, climb the Belfry for the view, and let the warm night walks do the rest. Brugge reminded me of Venice, smaller, quieter, and every bit as enchanting.

This city didn't drain us. It recharged us, and reminded us to slow down and smell the flowers, literally.

I take being an effective and responsible leader very seriously.
Here are 3 things I cut to lead better: unclear asks, physical/emotional clutter, and idle chit chat about other people’s personal matters. What you choose to cut out as a leader is as important as what you choose to nurture and grow.
We often feel drained not because we lack energy, but because we knowingly or unknowingly let it seep out. Your energy is your edge — protect it.

Rotterdam, in one breath: organised, professional, efficient.

Rotterdam is for the curious creative, the traveller who wants a break from Europe’s never-ending list of cathedrals, city squares and churches and of course, the business traveller! It is modern and fast paced.

If your time in the city is limited but you still want to soak it up, I recommend strolling through the city in the morning. Get a bite to at Market Hall, then wandering to Witte de Withstraat Street for a cold local beer (or any drink) as you watch the people go by.

The Kunsthal (Art Hall) museum is a must see! I would recommend giving yourself at least 2 hours here. There are seven well curated exhibition spaces as well as a museum café.

I would also highly recommend sundowner cocktails and a bite to eat at Celest restaurant and skybar. It offers incredible 360 degree views of the city as well as great food and drinks.

Rotterdam recharged us, and left us thinking sharper about the work waiting back home.

The Curator's Guide:

Rotterdam runs on precision. Rebuilt from the ground up after World War II, this port city trades cathedrals and cobblestones for glass, yellow cube houses and modern lines. Swipe through for the non-negotiables in this organised, efficient city.

1. Market Hall: Do not miss the Market Hall! Look up the moment you step inside for the massive mural by Dutch artist Arno Coenen, nicknamed "the largest artwork in the world" and "the Sistine Chapel of Rotterdam." It reportedly took borrowed Pixar computing power to complete. There is a great selection of food and local produce here, so grab a bite before you move on.

2. Witte de Withstraat: Head to Rotterdam's Art Axis for a cold local beer (try a light lager or pilsner) and watch the world go by. You'll find bars, quirky stores and enough galleries and museums nearby to fill an afternoon.

3. The Kunsthal: If you only have time for one museum, pick this one. Seven exhibition spaces plus a museum café make it worth at least two hours of your morning.

4. Celest Restaurant and Skybar: Do not miss Celest, the highest restaurant in Rotterdam. Go for cocktails, a bite and 360 degree views, ideally as a storm rolls through and the sunset takes over after. The toilets alone are worth the visit. You'll feel like a traveller in outer space.

5. Rotterdam Central Station: End (or begin) your trip here. It feels like an airport with far less admin, a small detail that sharpens your whole stay.

Some cities ask you to slow down. Rotterdam asks you to sharpen up.

Rebuilt from the ground up after World War II, this is glass, yellow cube houses and modern lines where other European cities give you cathedrals and cobblestones. It's driven, deliberate and completely without pretence. Everyone here feels like they're in town to do business, and that energy is contagious.

It reminded me of parts of downtown Stockholm (Sweden), but there were no real surprises. Rotterdam was exactly as advertised, just sharper.

This city didn't drain us. It recharged us, and left us thinking differently about the operational side of things back home.
