Here’s exactly what I chose for her.

The result was a wonderfully varied collection spanning seven countries, with unusual crystal habits, striking mineral associations and a mixture of natural specimens and one polished piece.

My favourite was the Dogtooth Calcite with Pyrite, although there were several very close seconds—including that gorgeous little Dioptase cluster.

💎 SHAZ’S PICK

If I were choosing one specimen from the shop today, it would be this Yellow Fluorite with Baryte.

Yellow is a comparatively uncommon colour for Fluorite on the market, so it immediately catches my collector’s eye. But what I especially love about this piece is the arrangement of bladed white Baryte against those gorgeous golden cubic Fluorite crystals.

And, well… Fluorite is one of my collection addictions, so admittedly I’m not an entirely impartial judge. 😄

Could this mineral really melt in a candle flame? 🔥

Stibnite has a surprisingly low melting point of about 546°C — within the temperature range of a candle flame. But this spectacular bladed specimen from Xikuangshan, China, will remain gloriously untested. 😅

Please don’t try it: heating Stibnite can release hazardous fumes.
