I am usually a quiet person on social media.
But I have this desire to share my story with all of you women out there, because I know how many women are quietly struggling and losing themselves — and this shouldn't have to be the case, because a real, sustainable solution really does exist.
It's Women's Month, and I've watched a lot of posts this week about women who hold everything together.
I want to talk about what it costs.
Because I was that woman. The one who gets it done. The one people bring their problems to. The one who is always, always fine.
And privately I had become someone who did mental arithmetic before every single event. What will I wear. Will there be photos. If there are photos, where do I stand so I'm half behind someone else.
I have scrolled back through three years of my life and I am barely in it. Not because nobody took the pictures. Because I got out of them.
That's the part nobody sees. It's not the number. It's the slow, quiet editing of yourself out of your own life while everyone tells you how well you're doing.
And what made it worse was that I had tried. I'd been to the specialists, like Endocrinologists that put me on so much of medication that I grudgingly took every day. I'd been given the plans, the scripts, the next thing and the next thing. I was never the woman who didn't take it seriously. I was the woman who took it seriously for years and still felt like a problem being managed.
At some point you stop believing there's an answer and start believing there's something wrong with you.
There isn't.
I'm not going to explain here what changed — that's what the video is for, and I'd rather you hear it than read it.
What I'll say is this. I'm 42. I have a toddler, teams reporting to me, businesses of my own. If it was going to work for anyone with no time and no willpower left, it had to work for me.
It did.
So this is for the woman reading this who is respected everywhere except in her own mirror. Who has built something impressive and can't stand in front of a camera next to it.
You are not lacking discipline. You have more discipline than most people you know. You've just never been given something built for the life you actually live.
Press play. Then message Feeling Fabulous and have one honest conversation.
That's all I did.
💛
P.S. To all those other incredible individuals who have shared their Feeling Fab journey (which is what gave me the confidence to take the first step), I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I never realised how daunting it is to put yourself out there, but your decision to pay it forward to others, was not only an act of selflessness, but is appreciated more than words can express 🙏🏽 Thank you all so much
