The founder Eric Lifson was apprenticed in the art of feather processing and duvet and pillow manufacturing in Germany, France and The USA. Today Lifson Linen combines the traditional method of bedding manufacturing with modern technology and innovative raw materials to offer our customers ranges of duvets, pillows and scatter cushions that are manufactured to International standards. Lifson Linen

are members of the European Down And Feather Association. We manufacture duvets and pillows that are NOMITE compliant and our down and feather products are certified as traceable in accordance with EU Standards. Our down and feather filling is tested in independent laboratories to International standards. We do not mix, blend or test our own products that way our customers are ensured they are purchasing the correct filling compositions which are fully traceable. All our products carry the ERSM mark which indicates that our raw material are sourced ethically. At Lifson Linen we like to say, we may not be the largest bedding manufacturer in South Africa but we certainly are one of the fastest and most reliable. The business began just over 32 years ago, in the garage of our family home. My father, Eric Lifson, believed that South Africans deserved the best quality sleep, made possible by bedding crafted to the highest European standards.

Since then, we’ve spent years in the trade, developing skills and experiences, learning from tests and customer feedback, and building a knowledge base that you can’t simply look up on Google. We know our materials, we know our suppliers, we know our manufacturing processes, we know our clients ... and we’re intentional about owning every step.

Look after your bedding, and it’ll give you a lifetime of comfort. Sounds simple enough, right? But how exactly should you care for your duvet and pillows? Lifson Linen’s experts share some basic rules.

1. Fluff your pillows daily. Flat pillows mean flat energy. And while you’re there, rotate and air your pillows, too. Like you, they need a daily reset.

2. Let your bed breathe. Pull the covers back in the morning before making it.

3. Make your bed. But do it properly. Don’t just pull the duvet up - shake it out and shape it.

4. Change your bed linen regularly. Fresh sheets aren’t a luxury; they’re a standard. (Oh, and by “regularly” we mean at least every 10 days or so.)

5. Invest in what you actually sleep on. This rule may feel like a sales pitch, but it makes perfect sense. Your duvet and pillows matter more than your headboard. That’s where you should be spending your money.

Okay, so maybe the vote was rigged. After all, today is International Dog Day, and we did put Bear and Frankie (a.k.a. the Liffy Brothers) in charge of the poll. But as Lifson Linen’s Official Comfort Control Inspectors, they play a vital role in the business. (Unless you count all the mid-day naps.)

Animal cruelty is morally wrong. Lifson Linen does not buy products or materials that promote animal cruelty, and we certainly don’t sell them either. ⁠

The down and feather filling found in Lifson Linen products is sourced as a by-product of the European poultry industry, or from Hungarian geese that moult as they age. We never source raw materials from farms where live plucking is practised.⁠ And we can prove it - to our customers and to ourselves. Every batch of raw materials has a lot number assigned to it, which enables us to trace the products back to their farms of origin.
