The Heirs of Dust
From crumbled walls and broken streets,
Rise silent hearts with steadfast beats.
Among the ruins, seeds take root,
Sprouting quietly, absolute.
Hands once idle now lift the stones,
Marking pathways with careful tones.
The echoes of the past still hum,
Yet forward steps are softly strummed.
The air is thick with dust and air,
Yet hope persists, though stripped and bare.
Each gesture small, yet bold and true,
Transforms decay to morning dew.
They gather fragments, old and worn,
Crafting shelters from scorn and thorn.
No grandeur sought, no fleeting fame,
But steady work to reclaim a name.
Rivers of sweat meet fertile soil,
Every effort seeds new toil.
Where walls once fell and silence slept,
A garden grows where hearts have wept.
Lessons learned from failures past,
Guide hands that build to make it last.
The young and wise, their vision clear,
Shape tomorrow from what’s here.
Let not despair define the land,
Nor apathy its gentle hand.
For every stone that you raise high,
Is proof the spirit cannot die.
So lift your hands, your minds, your voice,
In quiet acts, in steadfast choice.
The heirs of dust inherit more:
A chance to heal, a chance to soar.
From ashes, roots, from ruins, wings,
From broken soil, a new life springs.
And though the night may linger long,
The dawn is built by patient song.

🌍 RISE, DUST UP AND WORK
By Richman Gumbere

It is a bright day — fresh hope, new possibilities,
Yesterday’s tears now watering new abilities.
You’ve fallen, yes — but who hasn’t in this race?
Even lions stumble before they claim their space.

The sun still shines on cracked African clay,
The farmer plants though storms swept his hay.
Dreams don’t rot unless you bury them in doubt,
Get up, my friend — that’s what life’s about.

You prayed for miracles, but forgot your hoe,
You sang for rain — yet refused to sow.
Faith without sweat is a fancy excuse,
A lullaby for the lazy, a spiritual ruse.

Your ancestors rose before dawn’s first light,
Barefoot in hope, yet fierce in the fight.
They didn’t wait for angels with bread,
They tilled, they toiled — their faith was fed.

So rise again, dust up your knees,
Life’s not a game for those who freeze.
The mountain mocks the man who sits,
But bows to one who climbs in fits.

That business loss? Just tuition paid —
A school of scars where strength is made.
That job that drained you, left you sore?
It trained your spirit to crave for more.

That marriage storm? It’s just a test,
To prove which love is truly best.
Even rivers roar before they calm,
Even pain must polish the palm.

Don’t wait for chance to fix your mess,
The future’s built by hands that press.
Anticipation is just dressed-up sleep,
A promise lazy souls can’t keep.

So laugh at failure, wink at pain,
The sun will rise for you again.
Africa watches with patient eyes,
Work, my brother — that’s how we rise.

Because miracles walk with muddy feet,
They show up only when work’s complete.
So grab your tools, your faith, your grin —
The world rewards the ones who begin.

Till My Last Breath

By Richman Gumbere

I write to leave a legacy,
not merely words on paper,
but echoes that outlive the tongue.

I write to impact,
to awaken minds asleep beneath flags,
to inspire generations
that believe ink is a weapon
sharper than any sword.

I write like Achebe —
carving truth into the bone of language.
I write like Ngũgĩ —
freeing my mother’s tongue from chains of grammar.
Through their shadows, I rise,
a child of ink and stubborn hope.

My brain shall debate
where cabinets once conspired.
My thoughts shall turn
around policies and power,
challenging the comfort of parliaments.
When I write, the African political houses tremble—
not from noise,
but from conscience.

I do not seek applause;
I seek awakening.
For every verse I birth
is a rebellion disguised as reflection.
Each poem a parliament in session,
each word a motion for justice.

No chain can silence
a pen that dreams of freedom.
No prison can contain
a mind that thinks in nations.
I have seen the poor read my name
like scripture of survival;
I have seen my metaphors march barefoot
through the dust of forgotten streets.

I write until my lungs surrender,
until my heartbeat becomes a stanza.
And when my body rests,
my ink shall continue to breathe
through those who read,
through those who rise.

I write —
till my very last breath.

Honest remarks are welcome in comment section.

💖 “I knew from the moment I met you that I wanted to spend forever proving how much I love you.” 💖

The first time I saw her, it wasn’t fireworks or fate — it was peace. The kind that calms every storm inside you. She laughed, and something in me whispered, this is home.

We started as strangers with shy smiles and late-night talks, but somewhere between her honesty and her quiet strength, I realised — this wasn’t just love. It was destiny with a heartbeat.

Every day since has been a promise kept — to show her that love isn’t said once, it’s shown always. In small moments, in gentle words, in shared dreams.

So today, I look at her and say again what my heart knew from the beginning:
“I knew from the moment I met you that I wanted to spend forever proving how much I love you.” ❤️

📚 Respect an Author!

Think a 200-page book just magically appears on a shelf? Think again. That 200-page masterpiece took blood, sweat, tears… and probably three existential crises. 😅

An author doesn’t just write; they live with their characters, argue with them, negotiate plot twists, and bribe their own brain for motivation. Every page you flip represents:

Countless late nights ☕

Endless rewrites ✏️

Sacrificed weekends (and snacks) 🍕

So next time you see an author, don’t just ask for a signature—consider offering them a coffee, a hug, or at least a moment of silence for the emotional labour behind those pages. 🙏

📖 Respect the grind. Celebrate the stories.
