HH won with over 50%, but votes were added in 30 constituencies -

The Christian Churches Monitoring Group (CCMG) says its Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) estimates show that President Hakainde Hichilema secured the highest number of presidential votes and surpassed the 50 percent threshold required for victory.
CCMG however says its analysis has also identified discrepancies in 30 constituencies where votes appear to have been added, artificially increasing voter turnout and raising concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.
According to CCMG, while the identified variances do not alter the overall outcome of the presidential election, they warrant further review, particularly because of their potential implications for the allocation of proportional representation seats.
The organisation has called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to address the discrepancies transparently through established electoral mechanisms.
CCMG has urged the ECZ to immediately publish on its website all 226 “Records of Proceedings at the Totalling of Votes” for both the presidential and constituency-based parliamentary elections.
It has also called on the Commission to publish images of the GEN20 forms from all 13,529 polling stations to allow stakeholders and members of the public to independently verify the results.
“CCMG calls on the ECZ, in consultation with political parties and civil society organisations, to determine an appropriate and expeditious way forward to ensure that the official results for the presidential election and all 226 constituency-based parliamentary elections reflect the actual ballots cast by voters on election day,” said the organisation.
CCMG has further appealed to all political parties and candidates to maintain calm and take active steps to ensure that their supporters conduct themselves peacefully and respect the rights of others.
The organisation has urged political parties with grievances to seek redress through the courts and called on the judiciary to provide sufficient latitude for electoral disputes to be heard on their merits rather than being dismissed on technical grounds.
CCMG described the 2026 elections as particularly challenging and significantly different from the elections held in 2015, 2016 and 2021.
