Here are the main benefits:

Fire blocks provide consistent warmth, helping chicks maintain their body temperature during their first few weeks of life. Proper warmth reduces stress and supports healthy growth.
Useful during power outages
If electricity is unavailable or expensive, fire blocks can serve as an alternative heat source, ensuring chicks stay warm.

In many areas, fire blocks are less expensive than running electric brooders continuously, making them a practical option for small-scale poultry farmers.
3.Promotes healthy chick development
Chicks kept at the correct brooding temperature are more active, eat better, grow faster, and are less likely to suffer from cold-related illnesses.

🐓 Here are solid *poultry farming facts* — especially useful if you’re running broilers:

*Broiler Facts*
*1. Speed of growth*
Broilers go from ∼40g chick to ∼2.5kg in just 6 weeks. That’s why they’re called "6-week money". Their feed conversion ratio is about 1.6:1 to 1.8:1 — meaning 1.6kg feed = 1kg meat.

*2. Feed matters most*
Feed is 65-70% of your total cost. 3 stages: Starter 0-3 weeks, Grower 4-5 weeks, Finisher 6 weeks. Mess up feed quality and nothing else will save your profits.

*3. Temperature is everything*
Day 1: 32-35°C under brooder. Drop by 2-3°C every week. By week 4 they’re comfortable at 21-24°C. Too hot = panting, poor growth. Too cold = piling, deaths.

*4. Water > Feed*
A bird will die from no water in 24hrs way before it dies from no feed. They drink roughly 2x the amount of feed they eat.

*5. Biosecurity saves farms*
90% of disease outbreaks come from people, shoes, wild birds, or dirty equipment. One visitor can wipe 6 weeks of work.

*6 weeks to prove yourself. That’s all broilers ask* 🐔💪

Broiler farming doesn’t care about your mood. It cares about your discipline for 42 days.

*Week 1-2: The foundation*
They’re tiny, fragile, and 100% dependent on you. Temp off by 2°C? You’ll pay for it at week 6. Brooding teaches you this: _Champions are built in the first 14 days_. Don’t rush it. Heat, clean water, starter feed, no drafts. Boring work now = uniform flock later.

*Week 3-4: The grind*
Litter management. Ventilation. Watching for leg issues. This is where most farmers get lazy. The birds look fine… so you relax. Don’t. This is when FCR is won or lost. Every extra gram of feed you waste now is profit you’ll never see.

*Week 5-6: The payoff*
They’re eating more, growing faster, testing your systems daily. Power goes out, you’re there. Water line blocks, you’re fixing it. Broilers don’t wait. But if you held the line for 5 weeks, these last 7 days will reward you.

*Truth from the broiler house:*
1. *Uniformity = Money*. One management mistake and you get 1.2kg + 2.8kg birds in the same batch. Buyers hate that. Consistency pays.
2. *Biosecurity is respect*. Respect for your birds, your money, your family. One visitor tracking disease can wipe 6 weeks of work.
3. *Record everything*. Weight, mortality, feed intake. “I think” doesn’t sell broilers. Data does. The farmers who scale are the ones with notebooks, not guesses.
4. *The next batch starts today*. While these birds are growing, you’re already planning the next brooding. Winners farm 2 batches ahead.

So check that thermostat again. Walk that litter. Listen to those birds.
