Hunting Elephant can be a spiritual experience.
Angus a great client and friend who has hunted with Dalton and York Safaris and Untamed twice before jumped at the opportunity when an Elephant bull became available in Mahenya.
Mahenya is a campfire, community area that boarders the Gonorazo National park.
Most national parks in Zimbabwe are directly boarding hunting concessions. These hunting concessions many times act as a the last line of defense between the community and the National Park.
Jonny, York and Angus set out on their elephant adventure.
This hunt was an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. From weather patterns changing, elephant movement coming to a complete halt. Having run ins with poachers and going on wild goose chases with community members that where hoping for us to shoot an elephant in their area. We went through it all, but with shear determination that only a hunter would understand, great friendship and a positive attitude we managed to prevail!
Hunting this elephant was not only an incredible achievement for Angus especially after facing many challenges but it was a testimony of why we do what we do!
We manged to show what hunters are truly made of, defend our area against poachers, supply a meat source to the local community and create a memories that won’t soon be forgotten.
