Yalla Rugby started out as a hobby for Alex Johnson, our Founder. He was searching for a solution to help him find a local rugby club to join in the United Arab Emirates when he first arrived here as an expat back in 2013, but there was just no quick way of finding rugby club information and all of the results and stats in one place. There were other websites out there but they just didn’t meet th

Benoît Cosnefroy has his first win in UAE Team Emirates-XRG colours.

The French rider timed his sprint on the final climb at GP du Morbihan to win on home roads in Brittany, ahead of Noa Isidore and Paul Lapeira.

It was UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s 28th victory of the 2026 season, with more racing to come in France at Tro Bro Leon.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship returns to Mubadala Arena from May 15 to 17, with around 2,000 athletes expected across masters, amateur, youth and professional divisions.

Gold medallists will earn 3,000 points in the AJP annual rankings, so this is a serious stop for athletes chasing global standing.

The UAE Derby runner-up will line up in the 152nd Kentucky Derby after a strong Dubai campaign that included victory in the UAE 2000 Guineas and second place behind Wonder Dean on Dubai World Cup night.

Tadej Pogačar made it two wins in two days at the Tour de Romandie, taking stage 2 for UAE Team Emirates-XRG in Vucherens.

The world champion controlled attacks on the final climb, stayed calm in a reduced 32-rider sprint, then came past Dorian Godon late to win again.

He now leads the general classification by 17 seconds after another sharp finish in yellow.

Chess in the UAE continues to grow.

New Asian Chess Federation figures show the country now has 3,745 registered players, including 1,284 females and 590 internationally rated players.

The UAE also has a growing pool of officials, with 44 international arbiters, 20 FIDE-rated arbiters and 67 national arbiters now listed.

UAE athletes closed the Asian Beach Games in Sanya with six medals and the top Arab ranking.

The 31-athlete delegation competed across jiu-jitsu, sailing, beach soccer and open water swimming, with all six medals coming from jiu-jitsu.

There were also near misses in sailing, with Marwa Al Hammadi and Abdulla Al Zubaidi both finishing fourth in the ILCA 4 class.

The UAE athletics team now has five medals at the Arab U20 Athletics Championship in Tunisia.

Al Yazia Tarek added bronze in the women’s javelin with a throw of 32.79m.

Mohammed Adel Al Ali also produced one of the standout UAE results, finishing fourth in the hammer throw by just 2cm and setting a new national record of 61.47m.

That mark beat the previous UAE record, which had stood since 2006.
