A ripple can begin with a word, a conversation, a gesture, or something created with intention.

Our beautiful gathering, hosted by Jyotika and Janavi , was a celebration of creativity, expression and meaningful luxury. As a designer, I have always believed that luxury has a voice. At its best, it is not simply about what we wear, it is about craftsmanship, heritage, emotion and the way something beautiful can make us feel.

Jyotika has created a world in which creativity carries meaning and every detail tells a story. Those who know me know that I hardly go anywhere without a JANAVI wrap around my neck or draped over my shoulders. To me, it is more than an exquisite piece, it is warmth, comfort, self-expression and a feeling I carry with me.

It was an honour to recognise Jyotika as a Ripple Maker: a woman who uses her creativity, generosity and influence to bring people together and make emotion visible in the most beautiful way.

Thank you, Jyotika, for opening your heart and creating meaningful ripples with us!

Working with passion transforms a job into something more meaningful. When you genuinely care about what you do, effort stops feeling like a burden - you notice details others miss, you push through setbacks instead of giving up, and you naturally look for ways to improve.

Passion also tends to be contagious: it inspires the people around you and often leads to better results than skill or discipline alone can produce.

Of course, passion isn’t everything - consistency and professionalism matter - but it’s often the spark that makes hard work sustainable and truly rewarding.

“Recently we gathered in Delhi for an evening called The Ripple Effect. An evening filled with inspiring leaders, opened hearts and deeply human conversations.

The Ripple Effect was more than an event, it was an invitation to ask ourselves how do we recognize the help that is urgently needed all around us.

We see people but we never understand what they need and we always feel like we didn’t catch It, where we can have prevented it.

And how do we come together to create a meaningful change? Because the struggle doesn’t always look like a crisis. Sometimes it is hidden behind a smile, silent, exhaustion or the simple words which are not true : “I am fine” “ Deborah Pandit-Sawaf Ambika Seth

The scale of the AI shift ahead is not only technological. It is profoundly human.

I am honored to open the CIO Fellows Society Executive Conference on September 10 in Plano, Texas, with my keynote:

“Big Picture in the Era of AI: The Scale of the Shift Ahead and What It Asks of Enterprise Leaders.”

As enterprises are re-architected for the AI era, we must also strengthen the people and cultures responsible for guiding this transformation.

The defining question is no longer simply what artificial intelligence can do. It is how we ensure that it is led by the very best of our human intelligence: judgment, empathy, ethical responsibility, communication, courage and trust.

How do we accelerate innovation without diminishing human potential? How do we prepare our people not only to adapt, but to flourish? And how do leaders create workplaces where technology advances human progress rather than leaving humanity behind?

The future will require more than AI adoption. It will require a new model of human leadership.

I look forward to exploring these urgent questions with CIOs, CTOs and senior enterprise leaders at the CIO Fellows Society Executive Conference.

“A ripple maker is not only someone with influence, resources or a platform.

A ripple maker is anyone who chooses to use their words, their presence, their actions, to help another person feel seen, heard and supported. Now imagine if everyone of us reached out to just one person and inspire her to do the same.

ONE WORD, ONE ACTION, ONE RIPPLE AT A TIME.

That is how awareness becomes action, and that Is how practice leads to prevention and that is how together we can create a movement.“ Deborah Pandit-Sawaf

What do Indra Nooyi, Ratan Tata, Nithin Kamath, and Kunal Shah have in common? They lead with emotional intelligence — not just IQ.

Indra Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo, personally wrote thank-you notes to her top executives’ parents on every promotion.

Ratan Tata, who led Tata Group into a global conglomerate and passed away in 2024, built his leadership from the shop floor up — learning workers’ struggles first-hand before ever giving orders.

Nithin Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, India’s largest stock brokerage, ties employee wellness to real rewards and joins his team’s workout sessions himself.

Kunal Shah, founder of CRED, champions “second-order thinking” — the discipline of pausing before reacting, especially under pressure.

The data backs it up too: TCS and Capgemini both link emotional intelligence investment to measurable returns, including up to 4x ROI.

The takeaway? Care for your people first. The business follows.

INDIA’S EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE PARADOX

India is strong at analysing data-but are we equally strong at understanding and using emotional data?

As EQ declines globally, we need more than awareness. We need practical tools that turn emotions into better choices, communication and connections.

That’s the purpose of The Power of Words Band Bond Initiative™: making emotional intelligence simple and actionable-helping people move from emotion → awareness → choice → action.

Because the future isn’t just about smarter decisions.
It’s about more human decisions.
