🌼 THE POPPY COLLECTION 🌼

A little love letter to California, the place that raised me 🫶🏽

To golden hills covered in poppies, the scent of sage drifting through the canyons, offshore winds, and long lines wrapping around cobblestone points. To the beaches, characters, craftspeople and generations of surfers who have shaped a culture that runs deep through this magical stretch of coastline rippling out to the rest of the globe 🌊

This collaboration with my friends at True Ames pays homage to the golden state, the legendary work of George Greenough and his timeless 4A fin design. A fin that has moved through generations, and still feels as beautiful and relevant today as ever. It’s been one of my favorite fins one that I always go back to!!!

The artwork carries our California state flower, the golden poppy 🌼, a little piece of home to take with you wherever you wander in search of epic waves and adventure 🌊🫶🏽✨

So grateful for surfing. For California. For the people who came before us and the ones we get to share the water with now. And for the friendships and community that continue to grow from this beautiful silly thing called surfing that we all love so much.

LUNAR ECLIPSE

We’ve been going back.

To something that happened.
Something we lost.
Something we hoped would turn out differently.

Some things take a long time to become past tense.

We keep moving forward, while some part of us stays behind, circling the same memory, following the same thought back to the same feeling.

But this time, something is different.

We return to the old place and the old feeling doesn’t meet us there.

Oh.

It’s over.

Not “it’s ending.”
Not “I need to let this go.”

It’s simply over.

Pisces reminds us that not every ending needs to be understood. Some things dissolve when they have finished teaching us what they came here to teach.

This eclipse feels like that kind of release.

It doesn’t erase what happened or change what it meant to us. We don’t have to make it less beautiful, less painful, or less important in order to move beyond it.

We just don’t need to keep returning anymore.

Sometimes we let go.

And sometimes, after carrying something for long enough,
it lets go of us.

There are other things asking for us now.

New currents.
New dreams.
New places for our energy to flow.

And finally, more of us is here to answer.

Still reflecting on my recent time with our friends at Rise Up Surf Retreats 🌊✨

One of my biggest Aquatic Reflections from this trip was noticing how much moves within us when we travel somewhere new.

Different waters. Different waves. Different vantage points. New memories + new ways of seeing ourselves.

That’s why I created the Aquatic Reflections Surf Journal. A space to slow down after a session and reflect on what we felt, learned + want to carry forward. 📖🌊

I guess surfing in the greater LA water basin long enough gives you ninja 🥷 skills. Instead of dodging barrels I find most of my surfs skills involve dodging surfboards, slalom surfing, watching a lot of people from behind and doing it with a giggle and a smile if you and your board make it out of a session in one piece cuz stuff be wild in the LALA😳 hahahaha wait for it wait for it!!!!

‧₊ total eclipse of the self ₊˚‧

Once we form an idea of who we are, we tend to keep seeing ourselves through it 👁️. Other people do too, and that version of us can become difficult to outgrow. What keeps us where we are isn't always outside us. It's what we still believe about ourselves.

Life is always changing. Why shouldn’t we?

Eclipses don’t create something out of nowhere. They bring forward what was already becoming. We often live something first and make sense of it later. By the time we realise we’ve changed, the change may have been happening for a while. Sometimes understanding is just catching up.

Maybe we can leave the definition open for a while and let the way we live next show us who we're becoming… 🌀💙🫶🏽
