The Spirit and Adoption
“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, ‘Abba! Father!’ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God” (Romans 8:14-16).

The Holy Spirit confirms in our hearts the reality of adoption into God’s family.

In first-century Rome, people did not practice adoption exactly the same as they do today. A father sometimes adopted a young man outside the family to be the primary heir of the father’s name and estate. If the father considered his natural sons unworthy, he would find someone else with the qualities he wanted in a son. The adopted son would then take precedence over any of the real sons in the inheritance process. Thus the new son received many rights and privileges he would not have had otherwise; he was not merely a second-class citizen rescued from homelessness.

Likewise, it requires more than a natural birth process for us to become members of God’s family. We become God’s children because He sovereignly chose to grant us spiritual rebirth (John 1:12-13). That’s the substance of biblical adoption.

Therefore, adoption and regeneration are both terms that describe how God brought us to Himself (see 2 Cor. 5:17). Regeneration makes us sons and daughters and prepares us for our eternal inheritance. Adoption names us “sons of God” and actually gives us the title to our inheritance. Once this occurs, all our former debts (sins) are canceled, and we have a right to be in God’s presence without condemnation.

ACCEPT WHAT GOD SAYS BY FAITH
Categories: Daily Devotional
“For we walk by faith, not by sight”. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)
According to 2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV), “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” In other words, if you go to the mirror you will see what is not properly arranged and then you will be able to rearrange it. So is the case with the word of God. It says when you look into the word of God, what you will see is your true image. For instance, when you see the scripture that says the barren shall keep house and shall be the mother of children, begin to tell yourself that you are not barren, because that is your real self. It would be wrong to move away from that and to continue saying you are barren. The scripture says, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19, KJV).
You have to accept what you are first before you can become it. The world will say, “Show me first before I believe that you made it.” But God is saying that you have it backwards. It does not work like that in the Kingdom. Accept first that you are healed and you will get well. If you are waiting first for your body to adjust before you accept your healing, then you will never get well. You have to accept first and then act like the word spoken over your life concerning healing. The world says that seeing is believing; but God says that believing is seeing.
You have to believe the word, receive it, and thank the Lord for it, because it is for you. When the word says that you are strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, claim it and thank the Father.
Our part in every promise in the scripture is to say amen. The scriptures say that every promise in Him should be met with a yea and an amen. “Amen” is not a signature to prayer; it is an affirmation of faith. Accept what God has spoken concerning you and it will manifest in Jesus name.
