JOB VACANCY – SALESMAN / CASHIER

Etihad Supermarket is looking for a reliable, honest, and hardworking Salesman/Cashier.

Main Responsibilities:

• Work at the cash counter and assist customers
• Handle daily cash transactions accurately
• Maintain daily sales, cash, and inventory reports
• Arrange, sort, and organize items properly on shelves
• Regularly check product expiry dates and report items to the manager before they expire
• Explain product features and benefits to customers and encourage them to make purchases
• Monitor stock levels and report sold-out or low-stock items for reordering
• Keep shelves, counters, and the sales area clean and organized
• Assist with receiving, checking, and storing new stock
• Ensure product prices and labels are accurate and clearly displayed
• Support other supermarket operations when required

Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of computer use, especially Microsoft Excel
• Basic English-language skills
• Basic calculation and reporting skills
• Honest, responsible, punctual, and well-organized
• Good communication, sales, and customer-service skills
• Ability to work carefully with cash and inventory
• Previous supermarket, cashier, or sales experience is preferred

We are POS Operator / Salesman

Job Purpose:

To ensure accurate billing, excellent customer service, and efficient handling of sales transactions, while supporting daily shop operations including stocking, cleanliness, and inventory handling.

1. Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Customer Service:

• Greet customers and assist them in locating products.
• Provide product information (prices, offers, availability).
• Ensure a positive and friendly shopping experience.
• Handle customer queries and basic complaints professionally.

POS Operations:

• Operate the POS system to process sales transactions accurately.
• Scan items, generate bills, and handle cash/card payments.
• Ensure correct pricing and discounts are applied.
• Issue receipts and maintain transaction records.

Cash Handling:

• Receive and verify payments (cash, card, mobile payments).
• Maintain cash drawer accuracy at all times.
• Perform opening and closing cash counts.
• Report any discrepancies immediately.

Stock & Inventory Support:

• Assist in stocking shelves and arranging products.
• Monitor product availability and inform the manager of low stock.
• Check expiry dates and remove damaged/expired items.
• Support periodic stock counts.


Store Maintenance:

• Maintain cleanliness and proper display of products.
• Ensure shelves are organized and well-stocked.
• Follow hygiene and safety standards.
Control & Compliance Responsibilities:

• Follow store policies and procedures.
• Ensure no unauthorized discounts or price changes.
• Support segregation of duties (no unauthorized stock removal).
• Maintain proper documentation and records.


2. Qualifications & Skills:
• Minimum: High School (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Basic knowledge of POS systems and cash handling.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Basic math and attention to detail.


Experience:

• 1–2 years in retail/grocery store preferred (freshers can be considered).

Key Competencies:

• Honesty and integrity.
• Customer-focused attitude.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Daily sales accuracy.
• Cash variance (should be zero).
• Customer satisfaction.
• Stock handling accuracy.
