With immense pain in our hearts, we share the news that our father, grandfather, loving husband of Magda, and author - Addo Stuur has passed away aged 68 in Málaga, Spain.

Embraced by our love and in the care of his wife, Addo left this world on Wednesday after a short period of illness. We are still processing things at the moment and shocked at how fast everything has transpired.

We are grateful for recently having the opportunity to spend time together as a family and will have these moments to cherish forever.

With his passing, we are saying our goodbyes to a creative, inventive, curious, kind, and generous man - always looking for the next big thing and full of new ideas, all the way up to his final days.

A one-of-a-kind pioneer, who - with the help of his team throughout the years - invented a groundbreaking new didactic format (Visual Steps) and range of educational materials for kids and seniors.

Falling in love with Bonaire in the late 90s - Addo found his (second) home where he would find inspiration for his work as an author and form a deep connection with the island, the culture, and its people.

From this love, after his retirement as a writer, the ‘Addo’s - Books, Toys and Office Supplies’ store was born and started his efforts as the initiator and benefactor of a number of local non-profit initiatives, some active up until this day.

Having spent a substantial amount of time on Bonaire as a home and with our family - we would like to thank everybody for their continued support for the store and take comfort in knowing it made a difference for Bonaire.

There will be a private ceremony held in the Netherlands in a few weeks' time to commemorate him. There will also be a possibility for this on Bonaire soon and we appreciate your condolences during this difficult time.
