Hello everybody
I don’t usually ask for financial help, but now I have no choice but to turn to you, my friends and fellow bands.
This week has been a real nightmare for me. I went to Budapest to have the oil leak in my minibus fixed. Everything seemed fine — valve cover replacement done, I paid, and set off from the workshop. That’s when I realized the turbo wasn’t delivering full power — the van wouldn’t accelerate. I went back, and after long hours of searching, it turned out that all 4 injectors had failed at the same time.
In Vienna, I had filled up at an ENI station, where during refueling strange fumes escaped from the tank, and when I leaned closer at the end, I smelled an extremely strong odor, similar to paint thinner. Later it became clear that this fuel had damaged the low-pressure pump so badly that the entire system up to the filter was filled with metal particles.
The injector tests showed that they were completely unusable — the piezos were completely destroyed.
We drained the remaining ~30 liters of fuel, which still has a sharp, caustic smell, nothing like diesel.
In the end, I had to buy 4 new injectors, each costing 125,000 HUF. Altogether, this “adventure” cost me €1,635 (654,000 HUF).
I’m a business owner, I know there are expenses, and I’ve never burdened anyone else with them, because I accepted all the good and bad that comes with it — but this is different.
Thanks to the ENI station, I was forced to pay this significant amount, and unfortunately, it looks like I won’t be able to claim compensation, because the process is so complicated — I would have to get expert reports with official translations from multiple sources, which would cost another huge sum. Fuel testing alone would cost €500–800, and I don’t have the time for this as I’ll be on the road until the end of August.
I kindly ask anyone who can to support me in this completely unexpected and senseless trouble — any amount is a big help right now.
