Do you savor exceptional wines, relish the nuances of gourmet coffee, or appreciate a fine scotch? If this sounds like you, prepare for a deep journey into the world of Taiwanese tea.

Freshly returned from a sourcing trip to Taiwan, we will feature teas specially selected for this workshop. The focus is on some of the island’s most expressive oolongs and distinctive black teas. We will explore the artistry of Taiwan’s finest tea makers, from highly aromatic high-mountain teas to the traditional craft of charcoal roasting over longan wood. As a special highlight, we will share teas from a Buddhist monk and master black tea maker from Hualien.

Delve into terroir, aroma, and flavor as your palate encounters the extraordinary teas of Taiwan.

honey black

pure elegance — highly aromatic, honeyed fruit, peppery spice, and a long, complex finish. this is one of our favorite and best-selling black teas: a tea of extraordinary depth and character.

 

Lillering sweetness, earthy depth, spice, and sunshine — it’s all here. Tte texture is thick and soft on the tongue, the finish long and harmonious. This tea comes from a Buddhist temple in eastern Taiwan, where the head monk is a brilliant tea master with a lifelong passion for black tea. Extraordinarily clean and naturally grown, meticulously crafted with beautifully sorted leaves.

wild . thai . tea

this is watchara in a mist-filled tea valley :)

camellia sinensis var assamica is indigenous to this area & has been grown and cultivated here for centuries.

our wild spring green, wild spring black & roasted wild thai tea come from this magical place. the air is pure and far from any pollution, and the abundant moisture and fertile mountains create a unique terroir. the tea is both rough and refined. it carries a powerful cha qi, or "tea energy," from this wild place and the minimally processed approach of its production. the tea is handpicked and wild-grown, which means there are no inputs, not even organic fertilizers. the tea grows like every other wild plant in this diverse, high-elevation subtropical forest.

(...well, almost 1000 ways :) Grown in the pristine highland jungles of northern Thailand, this tea thrives among protected biodiverse rainforest, surrounded by national parks. Hand-harvested and uniquely five-layer roasted, it is the foundation of the beloved traditional Thai milk tea, cha yen – also known as Thai iced tea. Dark, roasty, fruity, sweet, irresistible and addictive! 

Join MiSA co-founder Kuros Zahedi and entrepreneur, martial artist, coffee connoisseur and food lover Misael Lopez for a deep dive into this extraordinary tea.

We will brew it in countless ways – from AeroPress to traditional simmering – then transform it into delicious hot & cold drinks, cocktails/mocktails and even dessert.

IT WAS AN INCREDIBLY CRAZY 2025!!!

 

we went viral on tiktok

a very crazy scenario considering we are marketing duds :)

 

we opened a 2nd location

another crazy situation since we never dreamt of doing so :)

 

we hired 5 amazing human beings

yet another crazy thing since we businessed alone for 25 years :)

 

WE ARE GRATEFUL!!!

 

Grateful for camellia sinensis itself and for all the work & care that brings tea to the cup. For the people who grow it, process it, mill it, and ship it. Most of all, we are grateful for all of you, who continue to create space for MiSA ... THANK YOU for coming in & for sharing your precious lives with us, even when the days feel full and the world feels tense.

As a new year begins, we wish you calm & happy days ahead & many delicious cups along the way!

here some of his thoughts on clay...

clay is intimately connected to the history of our species. its malleability and memory must have delighted our ancestors, who started to form the earth, literally. molding it, sculpting it, creating representations of stories, shared ideas, goddesses and gods. clay molded our imaginations and our creativity. it is the beginning of technology and the beginning of art. with fire, the ephemeral clay, once delicate and fragile, is alchemically transformed into humanstone - ceramic. art, technology & civilization are not far.

the way of karen tea

we have visited many karen villages before, mostly in the context of my textile work, but this was different - this trip was in search of tea!

tea is sacred here—sacred & everyday at the same time. tea nourishes, welcomes, relaxes, energizes, heals. it is part of rituals, part of daily meals & present in the quiet pauses between things. it is a presence that connects land, people & time.

the "rose" is our most photogenic drink thus far :) currently available hot as a winter special but soon back again as an iced concoction in one form or another - by popular demand!

valentina is a talented food stylist & cook who organizes creative supper clubs, bringing people together for delightful evenings, filled with delicious food & engaging conversation. passionate about cooking & creating memorable experiences, val is inspired by the art of combining unique flavors & textures.

matcha black sesame

& sisters happily united at MiSA :)

amelie a regular sight at the tea bar studying in vienna & marie visiting from germany, taking a tiny break from her musical theatre program - so great to see her after such a long time!

amelie is savoring a "matcha black sesame" served in a 250ml double walled glass & decorated with black sesame seeds & a sprinkle of matcha ... this bitter-sweet matcha latte is the favorite on the MiSA specials list this winter :)

marie, new to the tea bar was encouraged to try the "matcha maple vanilla" by her sister ... the all time favorite at MiSA.
