There is something really beautiful about finding your place.
As we grow older, we might question where we belong, and I am so happy to have found my place, my people, my community.🌻
My journey towards art and artistic expression has not been smooth, as some of you well know... There is pain, there is grief, and there is love. So much love.
Last weekend, my family and I had the joy of visiting the Inflow exhibition & Conference in Hungary, a juried jewellery exhibition, beautifully curated and organised by Jewelry Eden Györgyi Mátyók and one that I am so honoured to be part of.
Four necklaces from my ongoing Beauty in the Darkness collection are on display, and seeing them there in person left me completely in awe.🖤
Seeing my jewellery so beautifully displayed, thoughtfully presented, and integrated among the work of so many incredibly talented contemporary artists was really, very special.
Watching my husband's eyes as he looked at my work was priceless.
Bringing my son with me to see my work displayed made everything so much more meaningful. (and yes, he left his art on both venues' chalkboards🥹)
I think now they both understand a little better what I do... and perhaps, in some way, why I do it.
On the way back, I might have shed a tear. Or many.
I couldn't help but take a deep dive into my own soul and, for a second, even question why.
Why does the heart sometimes have to hurt so much for things to make sense? Why does pain sometimes find its way into our hands, our stories, and eventually transform itself into something beautiful we can bring into the world?
And yes, I have found my place.
And I am so glad I can translate my life's journey and honour my children, my grief, and my love in such an unexpected and unpredictable way.
I am so grateful for art.🧡
My deepest thank you to everyone behind Inflow and the whole exhibition, from the organisers to the jury members. Your talent and care could be felt far beyond the walls of both exhibition venues.
