It is almost time!
These are some pieces of the Magdalena Clay Collection.
After sourcing some clay from a boat ride in the Magdalena River in Colombia, bringing it all the way to Vienna to my tiny studio and test it, process it and developed it. I managed to create these beautiful and unique pieces.
The Magdalena Wild Clay is rich in iron, which is why it has this deep chocolate color, the temperature that I fire my kiln is *just* higher than the temperature this clay goes to, having fluxes that makes the clay be a bit shiny yet a bit matte. This effect + the rich chocolate color makes it look almost metallic.
I personally love the half dip or exposing some of the commercial clay underneath because it makes you appreciate the shiny & metallic part of the Magdalena Clay just a bit more. The carved pieces are also some of my favorites because when the light touches those tiny grooves it you can see the metallic sine even more.
I grew up in Barranquilla, Colombia. But haven’t been back to visit that much since I left almost 12 years ago. Which makes this collection have an even more special place in my heart ❤️ i am definitely keeping one for myself, but I’m excited to see which ones will find their home first!
These beauties will be available on my 0nline Sh0p, the first of April (really soon!) at 18:00(CET)
These are truly one of a kind, so if you have one in mind I can recommend hitting that reminder button for this event I created in this post!
Meanwhile I wish you all a lovely Sunday,
xx
