I have a passion for all things old, for times gone by and for the memories that these items of the past rekindle. I am forever picking up bits and pieces that might come in handy one day to “make” something, a trait I have inherited from my wonderful Dad who was the ultimate gatherer, gardener and recycler. I have sold all of these makings under the name of Enchanted Things for over 17 years now
mainly doing local craft markets in the early days, and now on my own website and Facebook. I make vintage style home wares from fabric and use many types of materials and embellishments to create items that appear aged and time worn...I love to recycle vintage doileys and tablecloths, buttons and wooden spindles...lace, pearls..ribbons and trims..these all get a second lease on life, even if damaged or stained, I can always find a use for them in my makings.. If something isnt old looking, I will make it so, by staining , sanding and generally giving it the once over to make it look like it belongs in a time long ago. My style ranges from the American Prim style, to nana vintage, and anything in between...if it looks old, then I am happy with it.. :)
I love the "old style" of decorating my home probably because of my Nana's beautiful old home and all of the bits and pieces we loved and remember from her. My nana is the inspiration behind the section of Nana's House here where I sell all sorts of vintage homewares and collectables. You can visit her house, room by room , she loves it when people stop by for a cup of tea and a piece of home made cake...
I also enjoy collecting vintage china and home wares myself...and generally any "old stuff.” I find it hard to resist anything “rusty, crusty, old and musty”........
I have three gorgeous young children and I count myself very lucky to have been able to pursue my love of making primitive style wares while being at home with them. As I sit outside in the garden and sew, or in my craft room with them drawing or making next to me, listening to them laugh and play right there with me, I know there is no where else I would rather be.......
