FireBear Armoury For over forty years I've been making chainmail. From a start in medieval armour I've expanded to make jewelry, clothing, accessories and kid's gear.

Since I was a kid I've been interested in medieval and ancient history. I've been particularly drawn to the viking era and had a go at making my first piece of chain mail when I was about 7 years old. It wasn't till I got involved in medieval re-enactment as a teen that I actually completed my first suit of mail armour. Since then, some 50 or more suits of mail later, I've gotten pretty good at it. As you browse through this page and my website, please remember that I'm not a web designer, I'm an armourer and historian. So if you find something that doesn't work or you think needs to be changed, please take the time to contact me and let me know. Or if you are a web designer and would like to help, I'd be eternally grateful for any assistance or advice you might offer to help the site look and work better. The gates are open here at the Armour and Alchemy festival at Wirrina Cove!
This weekend is the last fair event for FireBear's Emporium and FireBear Armoury. After decades of involvement in medieval fairs around the country I need to stop for health reasons. I'll still be making and still having fun :-)

Finally got my butt into gear and finished ghis piece off with a nice mjollnir pendant with a valknot for Odin to go with the anamorphic ravens Hugin and Munin. Yes the mjollnir might be a symbol of Thor but there's The Allfather in the background in this one :-)

The Minions and I are looking forward to the journey and the Fantasy Medieval Fair in Mt Gambier! So much so that we're even bringing Ragnar the Supervisor and Ripley the Safety Officer (Our JackRussel and Pug)!

FireBear's Emporium are a collective of South Australian artists who hand-make chainmail, armour, jewellery, costume, kids toys, re-enactment gear, accessories and novelties, all heavily influenced by ancient, viking, medieval, renaissance, steampunk and fantasy/sword&sorcery themes.

One of our original merchants we're so pleased to have them return to the Fantasy Medieval Fair, in their largest stall yet, taking pride of place right at the main entrance.

See them and many other medieval merchants at the Fantasy Medieval Fair in Mount Gambier on 18 & 19 April, 2026. Tickets are on sale now and are a lower price than purchasing at the gate!
