What does a coffee producer want you to know?

For Gil, it starts with transparency.

Knowing who produced the coffee, where it comes from, and the story behind it creates a connection that can travel all the way to the final consumer.

His family has been producing coffee for three generations. And today, technology makes it possible to share that story — even through a QR code on a coffee bag.

Because every coffee, there’s a person, a family and a story behind it. 🇧🇷☕️

Hearing a story is one thing. Walking the land with the people behind it is everything. At Southland Merchants, we love connecting the dots between origin and destination. Sharing withVeronica, coffee shop owner in Australia and IWCA leadership to visit Fazenda Três Meninas in Brazil was such a special moment. Experiencing origin firsthand, seeing the regenerative practices, and sharing this space with powerful women in coffee changes how we appreciate every single cup. It’s about more than coffee, it’s about community, hard work, and real connection. OriginTrip

What happens before Brazilian coffee reaches the roaster?

From screen size and physical evaluation to cupping and defect separation, coffee goes through several stages of classification at origin.

In this video, our producer partner Nunes Coffee takes us inside the process, and shows why understanding how coffee is classified matters when buying green coffee.
A little more of what happens behind the coffee you roast. 🇧🇷☕️

Let’s put your current components to a blind test.

We all know the headache of maintaining a rock-solid, high-volume seasonal blend. You need that heavy body, the rich chocolate-caramel baseline, and absolute consistency in extraction, but you also need components that play nicely with your roasting curves and roast development week after week.

If you are trying to lock in your upcoming sourcing but want to be 100% sure about your options and how it stacks up against what you’re currently running, let us know and we can do a blind cupping partnership for you and curate the best options.

How we can do:

1) You send us your green current blend or that specific component you’re looking to replace or optimize.

2) We set up a blind table side-by-side with our fresh crop estate arrivals and curated the profile.

3) We cup it blind. Just raw assessment and some other options

The goal? To help you find a match that hits your exact sensory targets, integrates smoothly into your current profile, and gives you total peace of mind with a structured drawdown that actually respects your warehouse space and cash flow.

Slide into our DMs and lets do it. We are more than happy to curate the best blend for your 2027 season.
