bucket-list visit to idemparis ✨ 
It was so incredibly special to step inside this beautiful, lithography printing house, still in use today - you could feel the magic of all the work created and printed here.

Even more special to experience it with my good friend – loving printmaking since uni 25 years ago! 
Memories made in Paris 🖤

Thank you to Patrice and Caroline for opening the doors to us and to Dragana for the studio tour – we loved it!  _______ 
Idem is a historic printmaking studio in Montparnasse, built in 1881 by map printer Emile Dufrenoy. Its lithographic presses once belonged to Fernand Mourlot, who worked with artists including Matisse, Picasso, Miró, Braque and Chagall.

is taking a short break! ✈️ 
The gallery will be closed during September while I head to Europe to visit family… and make the most of the trip by exploring galleries and markets along the way. 
I’ll also be keeping an eye out for new posters and a few special finds to bring back to Adelaide 👀

Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming multi-award-winning Polish illustrator, graphic designer and Alliance Graphique Intl member Patryk Hardziej to Galeria Grafika.

Patryk presented a fascinating talk on the ‘Search for Design Identity’ before we hosted the Australian premiere screening of Znaki Pana Śliwki / Signs of Mr. Plum (Signs of Mr. Plum) and an audience Q&A.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, asked thoughtful questions and made it such a memorable night.

And a very special thank you to Patryk and his wife Ada Zielińska for so generously sharing part of your Australian holiday with us. We loved having you in Adelaide.

is so happy to share that the PLAKAT (Polish for Poster) collection is here to stay!

The response to this exhibition has been incredible - the curiosity, the conversations sparked, the stories shared - even a few tears - have validated just how special this collection is.

Not quite the original plan, but sometimes the best things evolve in ways you don’t expect.

Original Polish posters will remain at the heart of the gallery, celebrating graphic art and visual culture from around the world.

Patryk is not only the designer behind the film’s epic poster, but also the co-founder of the Karol Śliwka Foundation dedicated to preserving the legacy of one of Poland’s most celebrated graphic artists!�
This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from someone who has devoted years to researching Karol Śliwka’s work and preserving his remarkable legacy.�
