Dragon fruit, galangal & borage — growing together!

A little snapshot of how we like to grow here on the farm — not just rows of dragon fruit, but a mix of plants all growing together.

Dragon fruit climbing above, galangal filling the space below and beautiful borage adding a splash of blue. 💙🐝

We love companion planting and creating diversity throughout the orchard. It gives us different layers of plants, flowers for pollinators and plenty of colour amongst the dragon fruit.

Our orchard isn't meant to look perfectly manicured — we want it productive, diverse and full of life. 🌱

Dogbane is putting on a show!

Our Dogbane is popping out some beautiful flower spikes around the farm at the moment. 😍

I love seeing all the different companion plants come into flower throughout the year — there is always something changing, flowering or attracting insects into the orchard.

These little pops of colour make such a difference, especially on the grey days. 🌧️🌿

We love our farm a little wild, diverse and full of life! 🐝🦋

A bit of a grey day on the farm today...

We are getting the lightest sprinkle of rain — so light it feels like it's disappearing before it even reaches the ground! 😂🌧️ We could definitely use a good soaking.

But I absolutely love the colour our companion plants bring to the farm. 🌸🌿🌼

Even on a grey, dry day, they make the orchard look alive. And they're not just here to look pretty — companion plants help bring in bees, native pollinators and beneficial insects, while adding diversity throughout the farm.

A little bit wild, colourful and exactly how we like it. 💚

Vanilla Beans on the Plant

THIS is what vanilla beans look like growing on the plant! 💚🌿

After the Vanilla Orchid flower is successfully pollinated, these long green pods begin to develop.

But they aren't ready to use yet!

Vanilla beans are harvested green and then need to go through a curing process. This is what transforms the green pods and develops that incredible vanilla aroma and flavour we all recognise. 🤎

From orchid flower ➡️ green vanilla bean ➡️ cured vanilla bean — it's quite a process!
