Music notes may seem strange now, but so did the letters of the alphabet when you first encountered them as a child. Your curiosity and the constant use of the written and spoken language around you have furnished your ability to read and not be scared of written words when you see them. The same will happen for music notes. They are the ABC of music, and with constant practice you will learn to sight read them just like you are sight reading this information now. Here goes:

Let’s start you off with the popular show tune from “The Sound of Music” - Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti-Do. You know it –right? Sing it out loud. Music notes are marked by the letters A B C D E F G. The show tune will be used to help you get the pitch of the notes as well as to learn the keys.

Look at music notes on the grand staff below.

That note in the center of the staff is Middle C. Position yourself in the middle of your piano, and let’s find Middle C and learn the piano keys.
Tip: The notes on the Treble Clef (top) are the higher pitch notes and those on the Bass Clef (bottom) are the lower pitch. The treble clef notes (higher notes) match up with the keys going to the right of Middle C and are often played with the right hand unless the music piece requires otherwise.

# Sydney Aarons Pianos # Picture of 7 Steps to Learn How to Play Piano
Many people who want to learn to play the piano are put off by the idea of spending long, boring hours learning music notes. If you are serious about learning to play the piano, the first thing you will need to do is put those negative thoughts behind and start with an open mind. It does take time and yes, you have to learn the music notes, but it does not have to be boring, and it certainly does not have to take forever before you learn to play on your own. Follow these seven steps carefully, and you’ll be playing your first songs independently in a very short time.

The Baldwin Legacy Baldwin is about more than pianos— it’s about peerless quality and the absolute best-sounding and best-playing pianos anywhere.

The company got its start in 1862, when beloved Cincinnati-based piano teacher Dwight Hamilton Baldwin launched a Decker Brothers piano dealership. In 1866, he hired Lucien Wulsin as a clerk, and the two eventually became partners in the venture, at the time named D.H. Baldwin & Company.

Since then, Baldwin has become the only American piano company to make and distribute quality pianos to all price ranges and aspects of the piano market. The handmade Artist Grands, built at the Trumann Factory in the U.S.A., are among the finest anywhere, at any price. Baldwin pianos are famous for their touch, tone, and durability.

History is extremely important to the Baldwin brand. Baldwin has been in the business for 150 years and has become the piano of choice for the world’s hottest artists, including Aaron Copeland, Liberace, Dave Brubeck, Marian McPartland, Ben Folds and Miley Cyrus.

The most important aspect of technology in Baldwin pianos is their scale design. The scale design is the “recipe” for the piano that consists of the materials used and all specifications, including the exact shape of the sound boards, the placement of the bridges and ribs, the length of the strings and the thickness of the rims and bracing. But it doesn’t stop there. The Accu-just hitchpins and Synchro-tone bass strings used on ArtistGrands are also important Baldwin innovations.

Fans of Baldwin pianos love the big “American” sound of the instruments, particularly in the bass area, and the clear “bell-like” quality in the high treble end. Fans of Baldwin vertical pianos love the beautiful cabinetry of the Acrosonic models and the durability of the institutional models.

1910s
The abundance of fine artists, who performed during the Theodore Roosevelt era, continued to appear during succeeding administrations, and President and Mrs. William Howard Taft and the Woodrow Wilsons molded the popular White House musicale into a well-established tradition. Beginning with the Roosevelts and continuing through the Eisenhowers, Steinway & Sons assisted the First Lady with the selection of the artists and helped with their travel and hotel arrangements. Helen Taft was a fine amateur pianist, who practiced almost every day on her Baldwin piano, which was trimmed in gold to match motifs in the Blue Room (called "Mrs. Taft’s Music Room"), where it stood. While Mrs. Taft preferred concert pianists, President Taft’s tastes in music are illustrated in the Tin Pan Alley songs and arias from Puccini’s La Boheme coming from his graphanola at this time. President Wilson, too, enjoyed a novel "performer" in the White House–his Victrola, a new American "voice" that entertained him in the evenings as he and Edith Wilson relaxed by the fire.

Baldwin Piano Information

Baldwin Piano Company is going through a renaissance phase. Production on the Baldwin artist pianos have been cut drastically to improve quality control and to directly compete with Steinway & Son. Baldwin has cut their retail distribution from over 300 dealers to 90 select dealers across the country.

They have revamped how the pianos are being built.. Like Steinway pianos Baldwin used to use an assembly line approach to building the pianos without much synergy or connection from beginning to end (except in the very limited production concert and semi-concert grands). Now Baldwin is using a "ground up" approach to each and every artist grand built. The same team of technicians builds a piano from the ground up and knows every particular item in each individual piano in order to create a better sounding piano with much improved quality control.

Baldwin is now using certain patents previously only available on the concert 9' sd-10 on all of their artist grands as well as many of their verticals. Including the Synchro-Tone String, and the Accu-Just Hitch Pin.

Every Baldwin artist grand piano now leaves the factory with a letter from the President of Baldwin Piano that he personally inspected the piano before it left the factory and it meets or exceeds the highest of standards.

Baldwin is actively replacing many Steinway pianos in performance venues as well as other brands. Baldwin has always been the choice of the consument concert performer as well as the seasoned Jazz player. Many artists are switching over to the Baldwin piano. Click here for Baldwin's artist roster.

They are also raising their prices dramatically to cover the additional costs of building a world class high performance piano with many advantages of the still more expensive steinway piano.

If you are looking to buy an undervalued high performance piano, you should seriously consider the new Baldwin artist series of pianos.
