Last week had the absolute pleasure to take to .

Our topic of discussion was Peter’s latest book, Kid. This is the most magical book that fills your heart with hope and warmth, the only way that Peter can. It’s the perfect book for kids from Yr 2-6 with its loveable characters, relatable setting with an adventurous story that makes you want join in with the main characters.

Just like Peter’s previous novel, I have no doubt that future releases of this book will be adorned with long lists, shortlists and winning medallions!

Peter is a supreme storyteller. His artwork is effortless and just incredible. All schools need to hear this man break down his books, his thinking, his drawing, his dreaming and desire to get kids reading. Staff, students and one lucky librarian just loved our time with Peter and Kid. 🐐

A huge thank you to the staff and students for making us feel so welcome. We had a wonderful time and loved seeing so much enthusiasm for books, travel and adventure.

One of the things we’re most passionate about at Bright & Early Books is meeting children where they already are and on a Saturday morning, that’s often at sporting fields.

So today we brought the bookstore courtside at Downey Park for Pink Day, officially launching Reading the Game, a new Bright & Early Books initiative bringing stories, books and authors to local sporting communities.

A huge thank you to for joining us with Duck Look Who’s Talking! - the kids absolutely loved meeting you between games, chatting books, and having their copies signed in such a fun community atmosphere, all while supporting a great cause 💗🦆💗

We originally had coming into the store… but then we had a better idea.

In our quest to be more than a bookstore, we’re bringing the author to you — courtside at Downey Park for Pink Day 💕

This Saturday morning, Bright & Early Books will be popping up at Downey Park with much-loved Australian author Matt Stanton to celebrate the release of his brand-new book, Duck Look Who’s Talking!

Between games, kids will have the chance to meet Matt, have their books signed, and be part of something a little special 🏐📚💗

Even better, a portion of all book sales on the day will be donated to Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) through Pink Day — because community showing up for community is what it’s all about.
