There are lots of stories out there at the moment and they have helped me to understand the scale of our situation. I'm not a regular social media poster but I think it is time I shared my personal story. We live on 90 acres of bush in Clifton Creek. We were prepared and knew this was on the way. Our plan was to stay and defend the house and my precious studio. I am so glad we did.

The things that really helped us were:
1. Preparation. A well designed home and studio, a full tank of water and lots of sprinklers.
2. A great team. Five of us helping and supporting each other.
3. Community and good communication was great for us before the fire and essential in the recovery stage. We were lucky our local phone tower was ok!

The second image is of our tame wallaby who seemingly came to say goodbye an hour and a bit before flames. We wish we had taken him inside.

Image #3 is my studio amongst it all - doing so well - there was a little fire on the roof, but because its earth covered, that was ok.

The last image is who we found the day after. Two tiny baby Lewin's Honeyeaters. We named them Ember and Spark and they are now doing so well. Mango is their favorite. @ Clifton Creek
