Our latest exhibition is now on display in the beautiful Conservatory at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, and what a setting it is!
The stunning Conservatory provides a wonderful backdrop for an eclectic collection of work created by members of Crafts Council of Ballarat — from textiles and wearable art to jewellery, woodwork, sculpture, handmade books and artwork.
There is plenty to discover, and every piece has its own story.

Here’s a little glimpse of some of the beautiful handmade work coming to our upcoming exhibition at the Conservatory, Ballarat Botanical Gardens.

This is just a small taste of what you’ll discover, with a wonderful variety of original work created by our talented makers.

🧵 And most of the exhibition work will be available to purchase.

Many pieces are one-of-a-kind (OOAK) — so if you fall in love with something, there may not be another one quite like it!

With the school holidays starting, why not make a visit to the Gardens part of your family day out?

There’s plenty to see and do around Lake Wendouree and the Gardens:

🌳 Wander through the beautiful Botanical Gardens and enjoy the changing season.

🛝 Let the kids burn off some energy at the fabulous and very popular adventure playground.

☕ Stop for a coffee, lunch or a snack at the lovely café — eat in or grab something to take away.

📣 Can you help us find Matthew Campbell?

Earlier this year, during our Creative Connections exhibition at Art Space Ballarat, Matthew Campbell purchased a piece which was to be collected at the end of the exhibition.

Unfortunately, our member who processed the sale didn’t get Matthew’s phone number, and we haven’t been able to contact him to arrange collection. The piece has been paid for and is safely being held for him.

Matthew, if you see this post, please get in touch with us so we can arrange for you to collect your purchase.

And if you know Matthew Campbell, we’d be very grateful if you could let him know that we’re trying to contact him.

We’re open 5 days a week again! 🌿

Spring is here and the Adam Lindsay Gordon Craft Cottage is open again Thursday to Monday, 10am–4pm.

Our displays have been refreshed and restocked, and there’s lots of beautiful handmade work from our local makers to discover.

Come and have a browse, see what’s new, and perhaps find something special to take home. 💕

And there’s an exciting new exhibition coming up too!

We’ve been busy behind the scenes giving the Craft Cottage a bit of a refresh! ✨

The shelves have been tidied, displays refreshed and there are lots of beautiful handmade treasures waiting to be discovered.

From unique gifts and textiles to jewellery, homewares and much more, everything is handmade by our talented local makers.

We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors back to our regular Thursday to Monday opening from Thursday 3 September.

🌼 It’s Almost Spring

The first signs of spring are beginning to appear in the Gardens.

Behind the scenes, our talented makers have been creating, our volunteers have been planning, and we’re getting ready for a fresh new season at the Craft Cottage.

We’re currently open weekends throughout August, so there’s still plenty of time to visit.

Then, from September, we’ll be returning to our longer opening hours — Thursday to Monday, 10am–4pm.

Keep an eye on our page over the coming weeks — we’ve got lots to share! 🌿

📣 Please Note: Our annual exhibition will not be held over the King's Birthday weekend this year.

Visitors who have attended our annual exhibition over the King's Birthday weekend in previous years may notice something different this year.

Our much-loved annual exhibition has been moved from its traditional King's Birthday weekend date and will instead be held in September 2026.

This change follows a very busy period for The Craft Cottage, with our recent Creative Connections exhibition and the Begonia Festival occurring close together. Moving the exhibition to spring will give us more time to prepare and, we hope, allow more visitors to enjoy the exhibition in the warmer months.

We know many people look forward to the exhibition each year and we are excited about the opportunities a September event will bring.

The Craft Cottage will still be open over the King's Birthday long weekend, so please call in and browse our wonderful range of locally handmade work.

We'll share more details about the September exhibition in the coming months.
